Like the other covered bridges in Lehigh County, this bridge is exceptionally well maintained. Even with looking at the map ahead of time, we didn't realize that the best place to park was on the southwest corner of the bridge where there was room for several cars, but I am not sure I'd try that with anything other than a SUV or something with a high ground clearance. The landscape was such that we were able to get some pretty nice photos of the western part of the bridge. There was a place that you could walk under the bridge, but because of the rains from Tropical Storm Ida, it was a little unsafe to do so. From under the bridge you can see the walking bridge for the Elk Ridge Trail. Since the employee entrance to the Lehigh Valley Zoo is on the southeastern side of the bridge, there is a LOT of traffic going through, so there wasn't much of a chance to get a photo of the entrance to the bridge. As an aside, the Trexler Nature Preserve is something that needs to be explored in greater detail if you like the outdoors.
