For the past two years, one of my several communities has held its annual picnic at the Lakeside Pavilion at Homestead Metro Park.

The Lakeside Pavilion has a roof and has multiple "garage doors" on the north and south sides of the building that can be pulled down if there is a storm.

The Lakeside Pavilion [that overlooks a large pond] has been a wonderful location, for the past two years, for my community's annual picnic.

My only negative comments about Homestead Metro Park are related to travel to the park and to infrastructure within the park.

There is a "Homestead Metro Park" sign at the intersection of Cosgray Rd. and Baldwin Rd. However, if one turns onto Baldwin Rd. and drives towards Homestead Metro Park [which is visible to the south], the only available entrance [near where Baldwin Rd. curves to the north] is an "exit only." The only option at that point is to turn around in a private driveway, return to Cosgray Rd., and then enter the park further south.

The only walking routes from the Lakeside Pavilion to the nearest bathroom are either a very complicated route directly through a playground [that involves several unmarked turns and changes in elevation] or a vastly-longer route if one follows the only the...

Great Park for kids. Multiple playgrounds available. I'm deducting one star because they recently took out an entire wooden section of playground that was actually pretty neat. I'm sure it had to do with some sort of safety concern but it was the main attraction in my opinion at the park but still the other playgrounds are alright too. There's also a huge walking trail that is next to it if you are a runner or biker or whatever. It's more of a city park than it is a Nature Park, and they keep it fairly mode although I will say I have pulled a couple of ticks off my dog there. Not really the parks fault Obviously but you do just want to keep an eye on that. Only thing I don't really get is all the fisherman that are there I wouldn't really care except sometimes they leave some of their fishing equipment behind on the grass so also just need to watch out for...

Homestead Metro Park is a fantastic spot for a day out. The grounds are beautifully maintained, with lush greenery and well-kept paths. There are plenty of benches and picnic areas, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal outdoors. The playgrounds are clean and safe, perfect for kids, while the open spaces are ideal for a variety of sports and activities. Additionally, the park offers scenic walking and biking trails that are both enjoyable and accessible. Overall, Metro Park is a wonderful destination for families, fitness enthusiasts, and anyone looking to unwind in a lovely...

Quite a few things to do here. You can go for walks year round. There are several playgrounds for little kids as well as teens and young adults. They even have an area that looks like an obstacle course. Then there are basketball courts, a pond, and several covered areas for cookouts. There's also a nice enclosed eating area that you can reserve that is up against the pond. There are grills spread around the park. Not as many as you'd hope for since the park can get busy. It's a big park with 3 playgrounds and basketball courts, so it definitely gets used.

We've been coming to this park since our adult children were very young. Where there used to be a preschool play area and water fort, they now have an inclusive playground and obstacle course. We've taken pictures through the years on and around the covered bridge. We've seen Great Blue Heron on the lake. Our youngest had her grad party in the beautiful Lakeside Pavillion which will always be a fond memory. Now I come with my grandson to make new memories.
