This is a beautiful facility with an amazing concept. I had my reservations about having a party here to start with due to the amount of footwork I had to put in, in order to reach the party planner to get the party booked.
My son was so excited for this party though, so I proceeded.
When we arrived at the party 10 mins before start time, the room was a complete mess. There was cake and left over pizza everywhere, old table coverings, and clear evidence that no one had cleaned anything.
This is completely unsanitary with germs but also extremely unprofessional. My family and I had to clean the entire room before we could even set up which took time away from me spending time with my child for his birthday.
Guests were arriving and nothing was prepared. I was quite embarrassed to say the least.
Christian was not very warm or personable. He played the game with the kids and he is much bigger than them so he was getting a lot of the kids out and calling a lot of interesting calls which was pretty upsetting for the birthday boy who was there to play with his peers and have a good time. I thought Christian was there to guide the party. Help serve food and drinks. Assist with cake. Referee the games. Not join and dominate the children who were likely half his age.
Brett had to step in to help to find plates, cups, and utensils which I was told would already be available.
There was no cake cutter or butter knife so we got out of the party late bc I had to send someone to get something in order for me to cut and serve the cake.
Overall it was a very disappointing experience.
I also wanted to pay cash for my balance but instead my card was charged.
One of the great features of having a party outside of your home, is not having to clean up and sanitize.
Having a party host who helps with drinks, serving pizza, making sure the room is clean, and making sure the birthday boy is happy and accommodated. I truly did not expect this from an institution of this caliber.
I literally could have saved my money and had my party in my back yard if I was going to clean, help guide the boys on the turf, serve pizza on my own while the host took a break to snack, serve cake, and then clean up again.
Jacob, the party planner did call me promptly regarding the issue and expressed empathy. He also reported he would be providing training for his staff. He informed me they typically do not serve pizza or cake, they allow the birthday child to spend that time with their family in the party.
While I certainly appreciated the explanation and empathy. I felt more could have been done to remedy this. Hopefully no one else will have to experience this.
There was no discount or partial refund for the work I provided for this facility that I should not have had to do in paying...
Read moreI now understand why there is a large pillow on the east side of Cosgray Rd. [in Hilliard, Ohio] across the street from Homestead Metro Park.
Each year for the past four years [except for one cancellation because of COVID-19], I have attended an annual picnic -- sponsored by one of the several communities with which I am involved -- at Homestead Metro Park.
While we are approaching Homestead Metro Park each year on Cosgray Rd. and are preparing to turn left into the park, I always tell my driver that that park [at 4675 Cosgray Rd.] is directly across the street from a large pillow [that I now know is at 4696 Cosgray Rd.].
During yesterday's picnic, I decided to leave that picnic briefly and to cross Cosgray Rd. [not an easy feat for this pedestrian since that road has no berms and has a deep ditch on both sides of the road] and walked around three of the four sides of the large pillow so that I would be able to figure out what it is.
While I had been passing the southwest corner of the large pillow, I heard the sound of a large fan that keeps the structure inflated; as soon as I had reached the south side of the building, I saw a large sign -- directly above an obvious entrance -- that clearly identifies that building as "Bo Jackson's Elite Sports."
I have now posted four photographs of what I had seen yesterday while walking around outside of the large pillow.
After returning to Homestead Park, I asked two park rangers if the AEP power outages during June 2022 had caused the large pillow to deflate; they told me that they did not believe that that had happened.
Maybe Bo Jackson's Elite Sports has...
Read moreI coached in the 7 v 7 youth flag football league. The games were played on time, the quality of the fields was good, and the refs did a good job of calling the games. However, the volunteer system for flag football coaches has areas for improvement. You have to call/email Jacob Federle and Neal Packanik to request a team to coach, but they are difficult to get in contact with. Also, a team was assigned very late to me as a coach and I had no idea up until 2 days before the start of the league that I would be assigned a team. The meet and greet was confusing in the sense that players and coaches did not know where to go which made setting up for practice challenging given that teams did not have assigned areas. You are also responsible for contacting the league each week to reserve practice space and there is no guarantee that practice space will be available. Multiple teams can be assigned practice space during the same time slots. The games were fun to coach and the parents, players, refs, and opposing teams were great, but there are some communication challenges that the league could greatly alleviate by giving teams assigned practice team and...
