Do. Not. Use. This. Company.
Sure, all movers have you by the balls since they've got your belongings. But Aloha takes it to a different level altogether. I was given a low quote for moving from Honolulu to Kona. That's ok though, it's an estimate only. Ron went through every piece of furniture and we discussed what would and would not be wrapped, how I would pack everything ahead of time, etc.
The movers came during their quoted time and I thought things would go smoothly. The younger guy pretty much immediately asked to use the restroom where he spent the next 15 minutes on the phone. During this time, his older partner tried to break down the bed frame and started dragging my Tempurpedic across the floor because it can't be lifted by one person. I put my baby down to help him so it wouldn't get dirty and he took it outside to wrap it. Yeah, that's worthwhile. Put it in the dirt before you wrap it.
Then they proceeded to wrap every damn thing in the house including stuff I'd said not to, like the coffee table. It wouldn't matter really except for the added cost and the time, where the baby and I were just twiddling our thumbs in a packed up house. Cool.
Everything was wrapped and out of the house by 1:30pm, but these guys must be the worst Tetris players ever because it took them until 5:00pm to then get it all loaded in the crates on the truck. During this time they completely disregarded any "this side up/fragile" notices on boxes and a few of them fell onto the ground due to their precarious stacking. At 4:45 the older mover mentioned that they'd stood my dresser up in the driveway (an uneven surface) and it fell over. Ok...so I go outside to see the damage and they've completely broken the damn thing down into firewood and stuffed it in a box with their garbage. Seriously? And he tried to give me some bullshit about it being unstable. No, it's a tall narrow bookshelf and you stood it on a sloped unstable driveway. Finally the movers finish and leave and as I'm locking up the house and getting ready to leave with the baby, I see they left the box in the garage. Are you joking? Left me to cart this box up the driveway to the garbage so I didn't incur fees from my landlord. Well, ok everyone knows something is gonna break during a move. Hopefully this is it and I'll just email Ron and see what can be done.
I do, and I guess he's having some personal troubles. Understandable and that's more important than my moving woes. But a company should also be assigning someone else to his duties. Instead, I have to email and call multiple times to even get a response. They sent me a claim form which I filled out in detail--including the damaged box that contained a now broken plate and soup tureen.
I have renters insurance and did not get their coverage. I accept that since I packed my own boxes they won't pay out any claim on the broken dishes. Again, sorta bullshit since the box was clearly one of the ones the original movers dropped because it was crushed but such is life. But the bookshelf? They estimated the weight and sent me a check for $21.00 for it. Since the movers said it was unstable when they were taking things off it (interesting since I packed my own books so the shelf was empty...) they're refusing to pay.
Oh, and initially Ron said that they would bring a 20' truck that would be parked on the street. This would involve a charge for "long carry". Fine, but then they showed up with 5 crates instead which they were able to park in the driveway. Was the charge removed? Only after multiple calls and emails. I'm afraid to even look at the bill for further discrepancies because it's just such a battle to get anyone to respond or get change.
Seriously, this company could not care any less about you...
Read moreLet me first start by saying, I never leave reviews. The impression left by our experience with Aloha International and Joe and his crew was significant enough to make me want to let others know. There are quite a few bad reviews left here, but I am a strong believer that it is the crew who makes or breaks a company's reputation and Joe and his crew are a true asset to Aloha International. The entire crew was respectful, courteous, hard working, trustworthy and polite. Joe was a true leader and managed his crew well. This crew truly worked together as a team to the point of undoing some subpar packing and training a fellow teammate on how to properly pack pots and pans in order to prevent damage. They even packed my furniture and belongings with evident attempts to prevent damage to extended legs on furniture, back of my swivel rocking chair, high backs of my dining room chairs and washing machine. The paperwork was very legible, accurate and adjusted per my request when needed. As the team leader, Joe worked with me with zero push back or fuss for what must have seemed like crazy requests as I followed behind closely to ensure everything was documented and taken care of accordingly. This included writing sticker numbers on boxes and wrapped items, of which Joe started doing for me himself after putting a sticker on items when I explained why I wanted this done. My entire 19 page spreadsheet of high value items (of which I staged together as much as possible before the crew's arrival) was documented and accepted with absolutely no question or problems from Joe or Aloha International. If you are fortunate enough to be assigned Aloha International and Joe's crew, your belongings are in good and...
Read moreJust used this folks as they were contracted through the company. Review may change pending their follow-on actions.
They were used for a 2-day pack and ship. The packing was good, friendly, I even tipped them up front although you're not supposed to for government contracts. Then to get boxes from the second floor to the first floor they started sliding them down the stairs and that's when the damages occured. Chips on the side wall and chips on the stairs as you can see in the photos. They also droppped a box on my router. The lady that was present gave me attitude about why I was "being so loud" regarding the damage. The router was the final straw. They is no assumption of responsibility with these island folk. The process itself is bad, they ask me to fill out a piece of paper for claims and feedback. Both pieces of paper I later found out didn't make it back to the head office because of course, the lady was the daughter of the head mover and the other man that was present was their friend. Probably was thrown in the nearest trash can. I had to call up to their higher, REBL FORWARDING to get a response. Three days I called and finally they sent out an assessment team. Keep in mind I'm PCS-ing and have limited days to seek resolution on the front end. All paperwork only provides counseling guidance for resolution at destination. Assessment team came out, although friendly didn't produce many results and even offered to "marker cover-up" the damage. The material has to be replaced since it's not a paint job. I'm now awaiting final resolution. Things don't move very fast for this company. Find an...
