Barber's Point Beach is probably the best for just chilling and enjoying the view of the ocean. I wouldn't recommend it for swimming or other water activities. Two main reasons: 1) shore is rocky 2) factories' waste When I came here for the first time - I noticed all the junk cars and different factories located at this side of the island. What I didn't know - is that waste from these factories is probably being dropped into the ocean here at this point. You can see on the photos the little "river" that goes to the ocean waters but does not connect all the way. Ive never noticed that the liquids would actually go into the ocean but I think when it's raining - the water probably rises and so all this stuff gets into the pure waters. The view of the ocean here is very pretty and there aren't that many people regardless of the time of the day. I like it here since it's always really quite and pretty but wouldn't recommend for swimming. For surfing - waves aren't that big.

My friends came for a Luau and I hung out at the beach. Enjoyed the nice sand and waves while I ate frozen yogurt. As the sun set I saw people rounding the beach in front of the Luau and decided to explore the area too. The lighthouse looked stunning backlit by the setting sun and pink stained clouds as the waves crashed onto the rocky shore. Little fish darted in the mini pools while crabs scurried across the sand. If you're lucky, you'll find a cute tribe of hermit crabs. It's best to leave them alone and enjoy watching them crawl in their pool. While the songs played in the background and the waves crashed higher from the rising tide, the sun set into the sea. Best to leave right after the sun disappears. Come 1.5 hours before sunset. Lots of fisherman and a couple homeless stragglers. The ride through looks sketchy a few minutes right before reaching the beach parking lot but it's worth the drive/uber.

I love this beach. The restrooms may not always be clean. Might have a big pile of trash by the restroom. But the swim spot is big enough and safe for kids with supervision. The tide pools are great too for the smaller keiki n pups. I think it's a great fishing spot because there is usually people with their poles out as well. Not so much for finding shells. And hardly ever crowded. There's a popular LUAU show right next door if you want to make an entire day of it. But don't tell anyone about the lighthouse that's a short walk down the shore......lol.

This beach is NOT a good place for swimming. Not only is there lots of rock, plus waves, but it is located right next to an industrial area. If you don't want to get possible contamination, do NOT swim here! Maybe wade, but do not put your head in the water!

However, this is the absolute PERFECT place if you want to find free critters for a saltwater aquarium. If you cross the old, weathered wall, you will find a rocky area that is full of small pools, which may look boring from a distance, but they are really biodiversity hotspots. There are plenty of creatures, like hermit crabs, normal crabs, long-armed shrimp, sea urchins, limu, and other weird stuff. There are also fish, like blennies, gobies, baby sergeant damsels, baby butterflyfish, etc. You might even find something new here! I do NOT encourage selling any organisms! If you don't want to keep anything, you can film some creatures too! This is a very underrated place for...
