Every activity in my trip to Oahu was amazing and yet this was still the highlight of my trip! As much as I tried to avoid the rainy months when planning ahead of time my jump was still delayed due to the weather and safety concerns. However since I had planned it for the middle of my trip, they quickly rescheduled me and I was able to go on the last day of my trip. Getting there was tricky because road construction had closed the road I was taking to get there, and I took a wrong exit in the detour. I called them to explain and again they quickly rescheduled me for an hour later at no additional cost.
Upon arrival I was greeted first by one of the instructors’ dog who was adorable, then by two very friendly people working the checkout. They got me set up and since the weather was nice they explained they also had halo jumping that day which is going up an additional 4,000-5-000 ft and requires oxygen while on the plane. I was hesitant to do it at first because I needed to see if I still had the budget for it, but they told me I could pay for the skydive and since I still had some time before the jump, I could just add it at anytime. My wife ultimately convinced me reminding me it was a once in a lifetime experience in a beautiful place and halo jumping was something that had always caught my attention as it is.
So after upgrading to the halo jumping and paying for the video package where someone jumps with you to record you, I met my instructor Debra and my videographer Seth, both very nice people who you can tell right away have tons of experience. Seth’s main job was to hype me up for the videos while Debra made sure I was safe and knew what to expect.
After giving me a quick overview of what’s to come and getting me in my harness we went up, dropped off the skydivers and continued to halo jumping altitude which meant wearing a nose hose for the remainder of the flight. Debra made it so the harness was as comfortable as possible by leaving it a little looser on the plane then as we started reaching out height tightened the straps and made sure I was still feeling good.
Finally we reached the height and did the jump! I’m a mild adrenaline junkie so i might be a little biased but the jump didn’t make you get that feeling in the pit of your stomach, you just feel the wind and try to soak in the views as you orient yourself. My instructor had us doing spins to add that fun factor and seeing the videographer come in close to get the footage felt like we were doing stunts together it was an amazing experience. After about 90 seconds of free-fall Debra deployed the canopy and again I was concerned my thighs or crotch might take a hit but no, it was quick and painless.
I had asked if they would allow me to use meta glasses to film a POV perspective and they said it wouldn’t be an issue. I was also happy I didn’t have to wear a jumpsuit or a hat despite my shoulder length hair. They didn’t even make me have to tie my hair back which I appreciated. It was all my choice and that made me even more excited knowing I didn’t have to look ridiculous for my jump. Debra even warned me it could get a little chillier at altitude since I was in a T-shirt but we decided to rough it out together and I was glad because the morning breeze enhanced the experience for me.
Seth also provided the awesome footage before during and after the jump which along with my pov footage really preserved the memory. Afterwards they even gave my wife a little gift tote bag for attending with me.
Overall everything went perfect despite me struggling to make it there for things out of their control. I don’t know if I got lucky with the people I got but it seemed everyone there was great people. If you’re debating whether to do this or not, PLEASE DONT MISS OUT!!! It was not only a highlight of this trip it was a highlight of my life!
Also they really don’t push it on you or anything, but DONT...
Read moreWhere do I even start. So disappointed, I paid 753.92 dollars and was not worth it at all. I should have chosen any other company. I do not recommend this company at all if you are on vacation. I guess it’s fine if you just jump, you live there so you don’t mind waiting a bunch and you don’t care at all for a video and pictures, otherwise, not worth it.
What’s the point of paying 338 dollars for a “Deluxe gold photos and video” if all the pictures are trash, for what I will want hundreds of pictures if those are like someone else, the floor, really bad angle for pictures, random trash pics, why would I want that. The video? Like what’s the point of an edited video of 7 minutes if they will put the same clip twice to make it “longer”, I rather have the regular video and then I can do a better editing for my jump experience, not worth it.
Transportation was 40 minutes late for pick up and 2 hours late for drop off, one day totally wasted it. If you wanna enjoy your whole day doing more than a jump, do not think you’ll be fine with your timing cause you won’t, then also what’s the point of making a reservation for a certain time if they won’t respect that. I called to ask about making an arrangement for pick up and drop off since I wanted to enjoy the whole day instead of just going back and forth from Waikiki all the way up to North Shore, they said no, just whoever is jumping, pick up, jump, drop off. Actually they do some arrangements, in our van was enough space for more people, and also was someone else there who was not jumping, just accompanying his girlfriend, then how come some arrangements are fine, others are not fine? That means I could have invited a friend? Maybe a friend could make a better experience. I guess is better if you just show up anytime time like a walk in, then actually you’ll jump faster and enjoy your day and do more activities if you are on vacation like I was, I should have arranged transportation on my own.
I guess is better if you drive and go with friends, maybe they’ll take better videos and pictures and record the whole experience because paying them for that is not worth it at all, I normally understand and I agree to pay the price for what’s worth, this is not worth it, I regretted wasting 753.92 dollars in this; I did jump before and every penny was so worth it in Moab, I had great videos and tons of great pictures, they actually respected the time for the reservation and cared about giving a good service if I am paying for it actually a lot of money. I thought cause is O’ahu, it would be better, no.
I checked their pictures and videos before going, I guess they just do it for commercial reasons or maybe is the camera guy, maybe I was just so unlucky that he didn’t care at all doing a good job; l don’t live in Hawaii or this country, it’s not like I can do it again anytime any other day, it was once in life and it is not worth it at all paying for it.
The jump? I paid extra to jump 18,000 ft and also that supposed to be 30 seconds longer, I don’t think it was at all, as I said, I did it before in Moab, I know how is the jumping, this one it wasn’t worth it either, I thought it was just my mind that I felt was really short, I checked the video and it is really short, then why I paid extra 160 dollars, I should have just paid the jump and done, then I wouldn’t been so disappointed like I am now.
Finally, I guess just for commercial reasons, they keep asking for feedback, well, this is the feedback, so disappointed, not worth it, not...
Read moreduring my trip to celebrate my 30th bday i came to gojump hawaii , i initially scheduled my jump for august 24 on my bday but they called me Saturday and canceled my jump for “technical difficulties” with no explanation so rescheduled it for aug 27th and on aug 26th they called me again to cancel again for the same reason with no explanation then we scheduled for aug 28th .. on my way to get a rental because i was staying in waikiki , somebody i talked to during my trip i spoke to again and he told me that gojump has shuttles , which i was never told about or even asked if i needed or would like a shuttle which ultimately saved me $200 .. so i called to confirm the shuttle and they said they were booked for the day and said they have jumps available for aug 29th so i then rescheduled for the next morning which i was able to catch a ride with the shuttle ..
we got to the destination and checked in and got ready for the jump , my two instructors max and quinton were super chill just like me which made me pretty chill with the jump to not overly excited just enough to keep everything balanced … the ride up to height was smooth and the jump was amazing , i loved the view i loved everything about it , the pictures and videos that were taken we great i got over 300+ pictures .. i had a little trouble breathing in the air but it was worth the thrill i will definitely be doing it again … thanks again to max and quinton i wasn’t able to leave tip while i was there but know that i appreciate the experience and for everything you both did .. ps i still have the tip envelope .. 5 stars to both of you
other suggestion regarding this company in general , i would expect better communication and transparency about services offered in regards to the shuttle and the multiple cancellations i understand things happen but thankfully i had a prolonged vacation and was able to do it .. i would give 5 stars if those two things were better and if i was able to jump on my bday but it’s fine today was amazing beautiful day and pictures and video turned out...
