I discovered this place through someone on Facebook who mentioned a monthly seed giveaway located in Halawa. I worked in Halawa and ended up going there a few times on my lunch break to relax and enjoy nature and to get seeds. The staff was really friendly and informed me of workshops that happen at this site. I was able to attend a composting workshop where there was a lot of useful information and demonstrations. I still refer to the handouts I was given that day. I happened across one of the unlucky master gardeners whom I was able to bombard with questions as I have a new interest in gardening and she was very nice and patient with me. Lucky for her my husband eventually was able to pry me away. I only gave this 4 stars because I would have liked to see more name labels and possibly small facts by the lovely trees, cacti, ect. I often found myself asking what's that? With at least name tags I'd be able to google additional information if I had more questions. It does also have an unfinished feel to it, but only because I think it is maintained solely by volunteers. I hope to find time to volunteer there. It's a bit hard though with them being open only 2 days a week. And I couldn't attend the annual plant sale.☹ wish they'd happen more than once a year.

Found this place after seeing an online post about free seedlings, will have to come back for the interesting gardening workshops! Located in an industrial zone, you’ll find the garden at the end of a dead end street. There will be two small buildings to your left as you head down to the parking lot; once you’ve parked, you’ll want to check in at the building closer to the street. There, the friendly Friends of Halawa Xeriscape Garden will give you the seedling along with a packet of info about caring for the plant, the garden, workshops and more. After that you’re free to roam the garden across the street from the buildings!

Very pretty, small garden area. Beautiful plants and shrubs . Paved Walkways . Free. Only open specific days and hours. Would not drive far to see this but if combined with other activities nearby and its open. Then nice, little stop. We were done in 20 minutes and enjoyed it. Restrooms and small parking lot.
