Been coming here for several decades now since I was a small kid with my grandparents. The purpose behind Helemano Plantation is to provide training for the developmentally disabled.
[FOOD] While certain foods may look salty it definitely is not, like the sweet sour spareribs which we found to be nice and soft with just the right amount of flavor. The food is made in small batches so things are usually nice and fresh. FAVORITES include the: STEAMED BUNS (in the brown basket) & MUSHU VEGETABLES, SPRING ROLLS. TIP: Again the food is made in small batches so if something runs out just ask if they are bringing out more.
[SERVICE] Still great friendly service with no complaints here.

Read moreThe Helemano plantation is right next door to the Dole Plantation and I highly recommend you stop by. They provide jobs, education and housing for people who have developmental issues. They have gift shops with the lowest prices you will find anywhere in the Islands if not the whole country, shaved ice, $12.95 buffet and more. They are working on the front, so it looked almost as though it were closed or even abandoned, but we could see the Open sign flashing from a distance. One of the reviews below complained about the t-shirt prices not being as advertised on their web site... where else on the island will you find t-shirts priced 3 for $20? You really should stop by to support them and chat with some of their employees/residents they...
Read moreExcellent place for a reasonably priced (12.95) buffet on the way to North Shore. Right next to the Dole Plantation. I think they grow a lot of the food they serve. Note that it does NOT open at 9am, 7 days a week, as stated here. The signs in front are also misleading, stating that it's open at 10am. Yes, the little shops open at 10 am, but the restaurant itself is open at 11am till 2:30pm, everyday EXCEPT Saturdays. We go eat there as a destination but also definitely worth the stop if you happen to be passing by...
