Makapu‘U Beach — Attraction in Oʻahu

I love this beach! Beautiful, fluffy sand and such pretty water. The waves can be pretty rough and more suited for body surfing but there are some shallow areas that you can swim in. Lifeguards are always on watch and we saw them come down multiple times to ask people not to swim in certain areas and also got on their megaphones a few times as well. Stumbled upon this beach on a late Sunday morning and it was full of families, BBQs, and parties. There were people fishing and little ones playing in the smaller tide pool areas until the tide came in. Saw lots of local kids on boogie boards enjoying the tiny surf closer to shore. Homeless tents galore dont come to this side of the island as its riddled with homeless encampments. The local government should be ashamed of itself for letting this paradise go to complete disarray. If you are a tourist don’t come to this side of the island at all...
