My time at Moaina Retreat was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this would be more than just a vacation. It was a deeply rejuvenating and self-healing journey. The peaceful setting, the connection with nature, and the space to simply be allowed for a level of rest and clarity I didn’t know I needed. Vivi is a truly incredible host, warm, intuitive, and deeply connected to the land and local culture. She guided us to hidden gems and magical places that aren't in any guidebooks, offering a glimpse into the authentic local lifestyle that made this retreat feel so special and intimate. One of the highlights for me was the Lei workshop with Callie. It was one of the most therapeutic and rewarding experiences I've had. The process of creating something so beautiful with our hands, using native flora, was both meditative and empowering. It was about more than just the lei. it was a moment of reflection, connection, and creativity. If you're looking for a retreat that offers not just beauty and rest, but true inner transformation, I can't recommend Moana Retreat enough. I’m leaving with a full heart, a clearer mind, and a deep sense of gratitude.

Down to Earth and humble accommodations for a lovely getaway that gave an opportunity to be welcomed like family, have itinerary planned as well as great suggestions to do our own explorations. Paddle boarding amongst dolphins was so fun and our host Vivi was a great cook, organizer, and instructor during our physical activities like yoga, paddleboarding, and trailing. She knew some Hawaiian cultural references and brought that into our activities so it gave a nice honor and distinction to what we were doing instead of making it feel like a commercialized experience. Made great soulful connections amongst the other guests too! Definitely would enjoy coming back. A couple things though is the bathroom got very hot, so a bit uncomfortable to get ready in (could bring a personal fan, I’m just used to AC where I live), and the outdoor shower is not private…just for washing off sand. Bus system is easy to navigate and there’s a food mart for stocking supplies not far on the route!

What does the word “retreat” mean to you? Vivi @ Moaina hosts a small retreat in a personal setting (up to ~4 people), in a quaint house on the North Shore, away from tourist traps, but just across the road from a beautiful beach that never gets crowded. In a way, staying at Moaina is like visiting a close friend with a house in Hawaii. Daily yoga of course, and Vivi adapts to group skill level and intentions. But also local hikes, paddling, surf, picnics, lei making class - there’s no lacking of activity; but also plenty of personal time and no obligations. The meals were delicious and plentiful (Vivi figured I was a hungry boy and I didn’t walk away wanting more). Thank you Vivi, I came with no expectations and left relaxed, happy and a bit sore :-P

Seriously, if you're even thinking about a retreat in Hawaii, just book this one. You won't regret it! I'm still buzzing from my 5 days there.

Where do I even start?! Vivi, the host, is an actual angel. From the second I got there, I just felt so welcomed and looked after. She’s not only an amazing yoga teacher (the sessions were so good, and in the most beautiful spots!) but she also cooks the most incredible, healthy food. I felt so nourished, body and soul!

The balance of everything was spot on. We did awesome yoga, went on these cool adventures like stand-up paddleboarding (I was a total newbie and Vivi had me actually cruising!), hiked to beautiful spots. Plus, we got to dive into some real Hawaiian culture, which was amazing – the tarot reading by the ocean and making our own Haku leis were other highlights.

I went to chill out and find myself a bit, and this place delivered big time. The North Shore is stunning, and Vivi knows all the secret spots, so you feel like you're getting a real local experience. The house is super comfy, and has super good vibe, and it is literally a few minutes' walk from Sunset Beach – talk about location! Because the groups are small, you get so much personal attention. I left feeling like a new person – totally refreshed, more connected to myself, and...
