If you're an avid golfer looking for a delightful escape on Oahu's Ewa side, West Loch Golf Course should be on your radar. As one of the six municipal golf courses on the island, West Loch offers a pleasant and enjoyable golfing experience for players of various skill levels.
Unlike its busier counterparts, this course tends to be less crowded during weekdays, allowing golfers to enjoy a more relaxed pace of play. However, if you plan to tee off on a weekend morning, securing a time slot might require a bit of effort due to its popularity among local golf enthusiasts.
Once you step onto the course, you'll immediately notice the impeccable maintenance. The greens and fairways at West Loch are meticulously kept, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable playing surface. However, it's worth noting that the bunkers, a common shortcoming in municipal courses, leave much to be desired. Packed dirt dominates these areas, calling for some improvement to enhance the overall playing experience.
What sets West Loch Golf Course apart is its captivating track layout. Designed with strategic elements and diverse challenges, the course manages to keep players engaged and prevent monotony from creeping in. Whether you're a seasoned golfer or a beginner, the variations offered by this layout will keep you on your toes throughout your round.
While there is a small practice area available, it's unfortunately underutilized due to the inconvenient placement of the clubhouse a flight of stairs above. A better integration of the practice area and the clubhouse facilities would encourage golfers to warm up and hone their skills before diving into their rounds.
In terms of difficulty, West Loch Golf Course leans towards the easier end of the spectrum. The rating and slope values for the white tees (67.8 and 119) reflect this, indicating a more manageable challenge for skilled players while providing a suitable playing field for higher handicappers.
TLDR: West Loch Golf Course offers a delightful 18-hole track on Oahu's Ewa side. With its well-maintained greens and fairways, captivating track layout, and availability during weekdays, it promises an enjoyable experience for golfers seeking a relaxed round. While improvements to the bunkers and better integration of the practice area would be welcome, West Loch remains a fantastic choice for a pleasurable day...
Read moreWest Loch is a municipal golf course. It's alright for the price. The front nine is not flat. Expect to go up some hills, but still walkable.
The tee boxes are alright, nothing great about them. There is grass, but in some areas, the grass is sparse and sandy. There are a few interesting holes were you are on an elevated tee box, makes a fun time to see how far you can hit.
The fairways could use some work. There are a lot of areas with dirt patches and no grass throughout the course. The ball rolls out a little further, but if it stops on the dirt patches, watch out for the rocks. Other areas of the fairways have a lot weeds that your club can get stuck on when taking it back, not big difference from the rough. There are a lot of trees and brush on the sides that your ball could get lost in. There are a few holes with water, look ahead, and you'll see it.
The greens are the best part of this course. The grass is pretty smooth, and the ball doesn't bounce around when you putt. There is some undulation on some holes, but most of them are flat with the green tilted, so there is still some break. The bunkers don't have a lot of sand in them and may be harder to hit out of.
Amenities: -No driving range -Putting green - there is a small putting green by the club house Chipping area - there is are by the first hole that people warm up on Chipping

Read moreWestloch golf course is in excellent shape as far as the greens go and most of the fairways as well although the fairways are quite firm. My only complaint would be that the is no clubhouse concession open for business. It has been closed for years and that puts the onus on the golfer to be very self prepared with food, snacks, etc. They do have water coolers on several holes and their is a vending machine at the check in counter. Restrooms are clean and also available on the course as well as the clubhouse facilities. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Hard to beat this course for the price to play. I throughly enjoy playing here. I just wish they would reopen a concession stand. Miss the old days of Davina's smiling face and ono pupu's and being able to grab some refreshments before and after a...
