This place is so nice! There were 3 dog houses and 2 cat houses. There are tables to sit and relax and areas to visit with potential pets. The facility is cozy, but on hot days you will quickly remember that you are in Ewa and the heat from the sun is real! The people are friendly and we loved visiting and seeing pets being adopted. On the day that we went, they were doing a pet food drive and it was nice to see that families in need of pet food could come and get what they needed. The portion seemed pretty generous and the people that we saw walked away with smiles on their face. I’m so glad this is here in our community and knowing the spay and neuter operations are coming soon is great news! People on the west side need this. The only sad thing was that the dogs clearly wanted to find their furever home and they seemed sad when we walked away, and when anyone walked away. They did like the attention, but walking away was hard and they seemed to cry. The cats seemed to be easier to visit because eventually they chose to walk away after getting their fill...
Read moreI'm not sure what I was hoping for with this new campus but I was certainly hoping for more help! I brought a very healthy siamese male cat to this place and within 5 minutes, they bring the cat back to me, saying because he wouldn't come out of the crate, and because he was panting... they would just kill him if I left him. WHAT GOOD IS ALL THE FUNDING THEY HAVE IN THE BANK? Any reasonable animal person knows that in 5 minutes, there is NO WAY TO FULLY ASSESS AN ANIMAL! Who are they hiring here? They literally told me to just release him back onto the island. They are zero help and they need to hire people with experience in dealing with stressed animals. Absolutely ZERO stars if I could. Such a waste of time to drive 30 minutes there, for them to tell me to release a cat back on the island and they wouldn't help. What good is this place then? Absolutely livid. So much for trying to help get cats off the street who are actually nice and good cats. I'm almost giving up. There is no help for those of us ACTUALLY trying to curb the population of feral...
Read moreI wanted to surrender my pup because I was too sick to continue to keep paying for his care and hadn't gone to work in awhile. I had just got him and he was sick so not sure if he was already sick and lafy didn't tell me. I had no one that could help me so was left with no choice to surrender him. I brought him to the Ewa Humane Society and they said they had no vets on staff and they were closing early. They apologized and told me to drive to Moiliili location. That location gave me the same response over the phone! They said they an overwhelming amount of pets and short staffed to take anymore animals. They made me fill out a 10 page application then pay $35. I only pray their vets helped him and he finds a better home. Ewa location is just too new and not yet established. I was excited before they finished building that location but now....I realize it's not at all as they...
