El Capitan is absolutely breathtaking! Standing at the base and looking up at this sheer granite wall is an awe-inspiring experience—you really feel the scale and power of nature here. It’s a world-famous spot for rock climbers, but even if you’re not climbing, the views from El Capitan Meadow are incredible, especially at sunrise or sunset when the colors change dramatically.
The area is easy to access from the valley floor, with parking nearby and plenty of space to sit and take it all in. Bring binoculars if you want to spot climbers making their way up the face—it’s amazing to watch.
