Weltzheimer/Johnson House by Frank Lloyd Wright — Attraction in Oberlin

From Morgan street the view is charming. Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian design. Long large field with small grove of fruit trees. Color scheme lot and house is naturally coordinated. The low,flat building is perfect. Up close can be "secretly" viewed from Woodhaven a residential street. Sadly in need of repairs when Ellen Johnson saved it with the loving skilled craftsmanship of Glenn Hobbs. The appointments inside were mostly built-in and at my comfort level of what I term"unforgiving". All in all a great arcitectural experience. Please be considerate of the neighborhoods and museum...

This Frank Lloyd Wright designed home is owned by Oberlin College, bequeath to it by it's well known Professor of Modern Àrt, Ellen Johnson, who saved the structure from ruin. She and her many students worked diligently to restore it to as close to Wright's design as possible. Open the first weekend of summer months, it's well worth the visit and low entry fee. Try to visit as early as possible since there is no air-conditioning and it's usually very warm...

This is a little gem, a marvelous house with a rich history, a real asset to Oberlin College and deserving of visits and the public's support. To the person who said they "would like to see (it) finished inside somewhat better" -- just make a nice, large donation to the W/J House Fund and help the College make this happen. It's that simple.
