This was a pretty disappointing experience. Pulling up the place looked barely open. The whole time I was there I thought it must have been just opened by new owners because there are unfinished floors, the bathroom looks to be in a state of disrepair, and I know the furnishings and walls in the bathroom are the same as they were when this was Prestis. Turns out it’s been open for several years. Can’t believe owners think the restroom is acceptable. The waitress was sweet but service was terrible. Apps came out- the cheese skewers were pretty tasty and well-prepared. Mushrooms were tasty but a little overdone. We waited an hour for our meals. They came out cold, but some of them were over cooked. The bacon wrapped “burnt” ends were not at all properly prepared. The grits were like soup. The bacon was not crisp but was a soggy slimy greasy thing hanging off the pork ends. All the wrong temp. We sent back about half of what we ordered. Additionally the pizza we ordered never came. The poor waitress was obviously stressed and told us they were overwhelmed in the kitchen and were running out of things. I wanted to give it a higher rating but the manager never even came out to talk to us. Probably won’t be back which is a real bummer because there isn’t much like this out here. Not too family friendly- no crayons...
Read moreI had heard some very nice things about this restaurant. A friend and I tried it tonight. The service was slow (and we were one of three groups in the main dining room of the restaurant). We had a very nice waitress who was attentive but seemed to be doing a lot of other things besides waiting on the three groups in the main dining room and it took a long time for us to be "discovered" at the beginning of the ordering process.
The salad was good with some wilted lettuce and a few brown spots on some of the vegetables. The dressing was OK but did not taste "homemade". My friend and I ordered the Lasagna and it was OK with a nice red sauce but nothing compared to Lorenzo's Lasagna which is the best I have ever tasted. The food at Sterk's tasted a lot like cafeteria or catered event food so it was good but not great. I guess catering is a big part of their business and this is what they are use to cooking.
The food was reasonably priced.
The atmosphere was repainted Presti's of Oberlin which is the restaurant that use to be there.
I guess after getting a verbal preview at a meeting I attended I was prepared for a bit more 'tasty' original middle European food.
I wish the Sterk family the best of luck and hope they make a go of it. Oberlin really needs some good family...
Read moreThe new bar will be the down fall of this once nice family restaurant. After waiting over a half an hour for our food, my wife received the wrong entree (she ordered the walleye and got the perch, but clearly on the receipt it said walleye) and my wrap was bursting because of grape tomatoes being used instead of the regular tomatoes. We did not complain, as we were so hungry and never saw our appetizer besides when it walked past us taken into the bar and served to another guest by a different waitress. Our waitress only filled my water once, and that was after we began to eat. We were shoved into a corner by the supply closet while it was left wide open and employees were in and out. Lastly, and this is just a personal preference, but I noticed there was a table of younger people by the kitchen. Our waitress must have had her kids there, because it seemed she paid more attention to them then us. Unprofessional. We will not be returning, as much as it has changed and looks great we did not realize that if you are not in the bar, you will be treated very poorly especially in the later part of...
