This is a great place to visit. I appreciate the free fishing pier. It's a fun place to kill some time and meet some good people, or just fish on your own. Be careful casting any bottom-rigs, particularly out into the waterway; there's structure they get hung on. Should be okay if you cast on diagonals. The fishing isn't always great, but that's true everywhere. It's always beautiful down here, particularly at sunrise and sunset. Sunset is best.
Update 2022: the pier was knocked over by a hurricane a couple of years ago. The park has reopened, and is still very pretty, but there is only fishing access for shore casting. The pier is still lying on its side (or the walkway out to the end is), so there isn't a pier to fish from. Still has good access to the waterway...
