Aug 2023 - DO NOT play this course this month!! Worst condition greens I have ever experienced in 20 years of golfing. Greens were all aerated & plugged, completely covered in fresh fertilizer sand, and also many had completely bare dirt areas under “repair”. Putting was impossible and the greens were unplayable in every way. I wanted to just count my actual golfing strokes and give myself 2 putts, pick up my ball, and move on. The course needs to warn people either on the website or when booking tee times that greens are ALL under repair - instead of wasting our golfing day.
Apart from that, the staff was very polite, helpful, and professional, especially the starter.
The course was very pretty and very challenging with water and sand on every hole. I’d say it’s not a well-designed course, because with all the water traps, there’s no need also for so many sand traps, artificial hills, and tree hazards to hit around. It seems like someone haphazardly just threw things at each hole thinking they would make it “challenging” without considering playability.
Even if the greens were in good condition (as I assume they are in other parts of the season), the playability of the course is not particularly “fun” and I would likely not return here again. With a little bit of course redesign this could easily be a premier course because I’d the the beauty and extensive water, but it’s potential is lost in each hole’s incongruity with itself and the course as a whole.
The 1-star is because I felt like I didn’t get to actually “golf” because of the greens - there’s just no recovering from not actually providing someone a full round of golf when that’s what they came for. Even if the whole place was trash (it wasn’t), I’d have given 2-3 stars if I could at...
Read moreNot the golf course or restaurant but the venue. My daughter got married here in October and it was a struggle the whole time. They did not tell us we had to use real flowers until a couple of days before the wedding, after buying all fake flowers for flower girls. So, we decided on doing bubbles, which was a really cute idea. Also not told that we couldn’t use the bridge to walk down until after it was booked for wedding. Unless we talked to golf course and maybe paid to use. My daughter had to walk around the building and by ac unit then down a few steps before walking the isle. They did not disclose the fee for deposit until we got the contract. We had to sign three different contracts because things kept changing. We rented the bridal suite and the bathroom closest to it didn’t have electricity. When we asked about it they said they were not prepared for people to get ready at venue. We had to decorate and then get dressed… what did they expect??? Also the ac unit was out on part of the building and made the bridal suite warmer than it should have been. The manager was very hard to contact and was not returning calls as should. We asked about an arch and was told they didn’t have one then when we meet to go over the tables and layout she told us they had one for us to use. After us buying one!!! We did use theirs and was able to sell ours but still. The communication was terrible. The best part about this place was the food from restaurant!!! Joe and his crew...
Read moreFirst time playing here, shot 84 on a decent weather day. Links golf is different from other golf so scoring will reflect that.
Tee Boxes 3/5 - The course is short, and most since most tee shots have you hitting with irons, the tee boxes are noticeably worn, but there is no divot sand/fill mix to be seen.
Fairways 5/5 - No issues to be seen, grass is plush and not any real muddy or bare areas.
Greens 4/5 - The grass is filled in, but the speed is inconsistent due to some green replacements.
Bunkers 4/5 - Of the bunkers I played out of, the sand was fluffy and light, however my Dad was in a greenside bunker on a short par 4 that was all mud and considering the placement of the bunker it's a poor oversight.
Rough 4/5 - The rough is just that, rough. The height isn't consistent and it looks like it doesn't get trimmed often though I was able to play out of it fine.
Layout 4/5 - Links golf is played differently from other golf, so it's not bomb and gouge like other courses. Lots of carries/layups and being forced into specific selections. Signage and marker placement could be better
Amenities 3/5 - There is a driving range that I didn't see until I was leaving hole 17 since it is across the street from the pro shop. I didn't see a putting green, Everybody was using the 18th green to warm up since nobody made the turn yet.
Overall 4/5 - Given the price, this is a fair score especially given the conditions prevent a 5. I'd play again for sure, just hope...
