Locals convinced fat man to walk 4 miles out to the Point as that's where the "best agates" can be found( I think the agates are right there where you enter the area and convincing tourist to walk to the point gives them the opportunity to get the best agates for themselves as it is a few hours roundtrip). I was looking for whale boats when I layed down exhausted after reaching the point. Making sure no harpooned me by accident. Thank God it wasn't walrus mating season because I wasn't getting away.

This is a great hike actually!!! Make sure to ask the locals where to find gems and when the best times are for hiking that day. They will gladly show you what they found that day and instruct you on how and what to look for. I'm not sure If you can get stranded out there but you should have seen me running before the sunset faded and high tide set. I was rather proud I made it out and back. Wear good shoes for in the sand, sunscreen, snacks, cell phone, CAMERA and plenty of water. Share pictures of your gems and post to maps. Visit the Interpative Center located a quarter mile up the road, a great place staffed by volunteers who will offer guidance and entertain you make sure to donate a little...

We decided to visit this beach after reading reviews online. My husband and I, along with our friends (another couple), love Ocean Shores and wanted to explore another beach. However, our experience here was extremely disappointing.

As soon as we arrived, we were met with an incredibly rude and hostile man. Without asking us anything, he immediately told us that we could park anywhere—just not on his property. We had no idea where to park, where to get a permit, or even how to access the beach. Instead of offering any guidance, he was simply aggressive and unwelcoming to both us and our friends.

We are just regular young families looking to enjoy the beach, and we would have gladly purchased any necessary permit if someone had explained what was required. But we were given no information, just hostility. We didn’t even know this was private property—we only came based on Google reviews about a nice beach.

Unfortunately, what we found instead was an unpleasant encounter with a rude person, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. If you’re looking for a welcoming and relaxing beach experience, go...

The staff at the Econo Lodge, in Hoquiam, are locals and they recommended this beach. I got their late, almost an hour before the afternoon high tide, and walked to the point. I really enjoyed myself. No cars or horses are on this beach! Only dogs and one cat on a leach were spotted. Most of the people stick around the entrance area, but if you are up to the long walk to the point, you will find peace and quiet. Less people venture that far.

This park has a nice selection of rocks and shells for the avid beach comber. I’m sure this is a great place to go during low tide. My best beach combing spot for that day was actually close to the point, but on the bay side, where the waves are gentler.

This is a nice place and the parking lot is across the road from the entrance. There’s 2 portapotties near the entrance, too. The RV park is right next to the entrance to the park and is a good landmark. No matter where you are at, always keep an eye on the ocean, especially when close to the edge. The waves are sneaky and will catch...

Our rockhounding adventure at Damon Point! This is a popular spot to rockhound for carnelian, petrified wood, and jasper on the Washington Coast. It is located just south of Ocean Shores. The tide tumbles the gravel daily so each day brings new possibilities for visitors. The rocks you find here are generally small. However, there have been larger ones found. Good luck if you go! #rockhound #rockhounding #damonpoint #oceanshores #agate #carnelian #washington #beach #jasper #orbicular #petrifiedwood #rocktok

I had to see it with my own eyes. The around 2 mile long, 2 to 5 football fields wide (depending on where you're at) of amazing beach... It's basically all completely gone! It's about 10% of what it was since the last kings tides (around January-ish 2024) absolutely wiped it off the map! The beach of what's still there is almost all leveled out flat, so at high tide it becomes a little island, maybe a couple football fields of beach (zero access across to it, with insane riptide between), at low tide, you're still getting wet crossing over to it, and you can hardly make it safely over to the little island of mud sand. Not to mention it's illegal to even trespass over to it. Zero parking anywhere... So sad to see it gone. Posted pic of the only way in or out to damon point by foot at 2hrs before low tide

This week featured some of the lowest tides of 2021, so we headed up here to experience it and it was wonderful. You can check tide levels on the NOAA website and they post readings/predictions (check WA -> Damon Point link) for high and low tides. I am posting two pictures taken just 1 hour apart, and you can see how much the tide situation change within minutes. That giant piece of rock in picture 1 was no longer visible. We hoped to see atleast one star fish and saw 100's of them. Just walk around and look in between the rocks, they will be hanging in there. All beach visitors were friendly and welcoming, and most of them were interested in collecting stones, and rocks. Someone even spotted a whale 🐋 and showed me a video of it, i was very impressed but it did require them walking "4 miles" in.
