Dow Lake — Attraction in Ohio

I have caught some of the biggest bass at dow lake than anywhere else. 2 to 3 lb largemouth are very common here. There is plenty of structure here to fish as well as sunken roads and bridges. If you get on this lake and are not catching anything finesse fishing is the way to go. Senkos work year around here. Also try a non pegged bullet weight and a bass colored fluke for some great action.

This lake is a great place for catfish. I have caught many here but you have to choose the right location to get that one right after another action. I wont give up that secret but i will say this..... fishing from points helps and there is an excellent walk up spot near the parking lot that produces amazingly.

The boat launch is a bit shallow even for launching an aluminum 12 footer. This means your back wheels will get wet at the very least but that doesnt seem to stop people from launching bigger boats.

The lake does have a 10hp limit and no wake limit which most ignore. Once you get passed the beach and get out into the lake, alot of boaters just open up the throttle anyway.

One last thing. The lakes water will stay muddy well into summer so plan the color of your baits...

Beautiful place because Athens county is a beautiful area. Plenty of things to do at the lake we had a first birthday party. You can swim, fish hike, camping,etc. I gave only 4 stars because there was a dead bird near us...
