CHRISTMAS AT THE "CRAB !" those of you who are "Twighlight" fans . . . this is probably a "must do" since it appeared in the film, "Eclipse." I've never seen it so I couldn't tell you anything about that.
HOWEVER . . . I can tell you this -- It's a Very unique creation (prob'ly by the "farmer john" on whose land it sits) and is not just a whimsical "so, what do we do today" project. It actually has a purpose.
You may not agree with that purpose, but that's irrelevant. The United States allows such expression and speech via print, so long as it violates no law (such as human sacrifice violates MANY laws).
Bottom Line . . . It's just a unique structure that fulfills one man's passion. It got the attention of Hollywood so they put it in a film. It continues to draw attention 'cuz there ain't nuthin' else like it in the WORLD (and that will always draw attention).
It's kinda cute to sit inside a "crab" and write a review, at Christmas, and muse the reason for both the "crab" AND the holiday. It's not something one does... well... EVER.
IF you're planning your motorcycle trip for the warmer weather, it wouldn't be a terrible thing to have "Lunch In The Crab."

There is a small gravel driveway you can pull into that has parking for 2-3 cars. Had no idea there was a whole little picnic/display area underneath the crab too which included a guest book and other memorabilia. Apparently, they are advertising that this crab was in Twilight Eclipse. I was a bit confused by this because I didn't recall it in that movie. After some googling, their claim to fame is a bit far fetched - the crab was part of a quilt that Bella's mom had given to her, so just to be clear, the actual crab is not in the movie 😆. This just added to the humor of the...
Read moreSometimes road side attractions are best seen while driving. The horseshoe crab is large enough that it's sheer size is best experienced at a distance. There isn't anywhere to park to take in the crab's glory, but if you find a place to pull off on the road, there is a very small display inside the crab under the table. There is also a sign outside the crab noting that it is among the "Top 5 Roadside Attractions," but fails to give any perspective. Top 5 where? The US? Ohio? Hillsboro? The possibilities are endless, but it is worth a drive-by no...
