Fun park! Lots of room to for playing. This place has been around forever, but the playground is still in great shape. I’m assuming at some point that they came in and gave it a facelift. Playground is surrounded by fields for throwing around a ball. There are restrooms and a little set up for working out/stretching. There are several picnic tables and charcoal grills. One family was grilling yesterday and it smelled amazing. Instant summertime. Lots of ducks and geese to see and feed, although I’d recommend you do your research on what to feed them first. Skip the bread. And…there’s a sk8 park! Perfect for my teenager! He likes one because he knows Tony Hawk stopped to skate here once. There are also great walking trails/sidewalks all around the lake here. We walked out around the pier and down to the shore. Thousands of seashells to look at. (Please LEAVE NO TRACE and just look, don’t take.) There we’re lots of tiny, flying gnats that were super annoying that would swarm right around our faces, but those were only a problem down by the water. What else? Oh, very dog-friendly. Pretty crowded yesterday, but it was nice weather, so not surprising. Overall, fun free outing for me, the kids and the dog!

There are many features to Stars and Stripes park. Firstly, there are multiple large playground equipment pieces. They are suited to various ranges of children 2-12. The park uses those wood chips as "impact material" so no sand. There are also 6 swings and 2 baby swings. So for a playground, it is well stocked. There is ample parking as well as handicapped parking and access. Binges provide lots of seating for supervising the children as well as stopping along the sidewalk. There are public bathrooms in the brick pavilion as well as multiple porta-potties. There are many concrete picnic tables and grills. The pavilion is covered, and there are a couple other covered picnic tables also. There are lights spread throughout the park. Aside from the playground equipment, there is also a basketball half-court. They installed a fitness section which has built-in equipment to do various exercises such as lunges, box jumps, speed drills, and pushing and pulling exercises. They have also added a skate park, with a large bowl and a few ramps, stairs, and railings.

Stars and strips was a playground I went to as a kid in the 90's. Everything was metal but I loved it. They definitely upgraded it and you can the lake from every corner! I love the 3 different playgrounds in one. One for bigger kids, then a smaller one for younger kids and an even smaller area for super young kids. That way ever she has their own little spot where they won't get trampled by the older kids. They also have a work out area and small skatepark and basketball courts. An area to feed geese/ducks and ride bike path, plenty of shade with bbq pits. My only complaint is, there is a big arena area, for people who are having a gathering or celebration but I've never seen anyone utilizing it...all I see is homeless people sleeping in it. The bathrooms are always locked attached to it, but they do have porta pottys. Feel like they should have a grounds keeper or security guard at this park since it's so big and so many different areas. The scenery is...
