Just had a very fun three day stay at this property. It is my favorite in the area. Good comps. Won and lost alot but that is my MO. Ended up extending my stay by a night and was comped the room (The two prior nights were comped as well). Got a text from the casino host Heather who was GREAT. Very helpful and even put a comp for dining on my card and that along with my player points I only ended up spending money on tips and alcohol. I always enjoy the restaurants there, they could be better but for the region i would say are above average. Some really good sandwiches at the Shawanoe restaurant. Ate at the Creekside Sports Bar and Grille, the first time dined in and the second time got a to go order for my room. Great pretzels on the app menu. Fish was just so so. Very good Italian beef sandwich. Wish they had a few more fresh and healthy options. Got a mexican style pizza my last night, very nice thin crust and loaded with toppings, in fact could probably dial them back a bit, however the crust was great and a good option if you are somebody who struggles with blood sugar control. Also ordered a piece of lemon berry cake but when I got to my room and settled in for the night found that they sent to wrong dessert, no big deal except for the fact that the cake was stale to the point of inedible. (I probably didn't need to be eating late night cake anyhow :) ) I called them and told them they sent the wrong thing and Alissa offered for me to come pick up the right one. I told her I had already changed clothes and asked if it could be brought to my room, after a brief hold she came back on the line and said that they did not have staff for that. The bartenders were great and the wine and beer reasonable in price. Breakfast needs a LOT of work at this property. On my second morning we dined at Shawanoe and I won't go into much detail but it was for sure subpar in food quality and prep. The toast was good but other than that it was like a cheap TV dinner. My last morning was a Saturday so they had a breakfast buffet. More of the same, I would say skip it. The rooms are small but very clean and decorated tastefully. The beds, pillows and sheets are amazing. Housekeeping was not around at all. When I decided to stay the third night I asked if they could just go in and collect trash, straighten up a little bit and bring towels. I left a tip and note asking for extra waters. When I came back later I didn't think they had been in at all but then realized there were extra towels. They did not take the tip, I'm sure they did not even see it. And since we took a casino break and had happy hour in the room both nights the trash was a problem. All in all this place remains my favorite property in the area. I can't wait to...
Read moreThe sites for campers were more than I expected with great new asphalt (mostly level), water and electric, all sites at least backed up to grass with some sites having grass next to the site, easy to back into, and there were benches and a pavilion with picnic tables in the center grassy area. Most sites were only just wide enough to put our slides out and our steps down with the next site right nextdoor- like wide parking spots in a parking lot, though there were a handful of sites surrounded by grass. There was a dump station that you had to back into that was trickier than a pull-through, but great there was one at all. The bathhouse had a code to get in, and it was very nice, new, and clean, with 2 showers that the water could range from cold to extra hot. RVers are given access to the outdoor hotel pool; it was very pretty with a waterfall and little fountains, the pool sloped down to get deeper which is great for kiddos, but the water was chilly at the end of May. There was also a hot tub that was nice, but was actually a little too hot after 15 minutes with just my legs in. And there were a lot of nice lounge chairs around the pool, with some couches and tables in the shade. Heads up- you have to get your (plush and fluffy) pool towels from the front desk, which is inconvenient, especially if you didn't realize it until your kiddos are already in the water and then there's a line of people waiting to check in at the front desk (there could definitely be a better placement and system for towels). There's a pool bar that I believe opened at noon: great idea and convenient; and also a bin with waterbottles. We liked camping here just as much as some Missouri State Parks, :-) and it was nice that it was a...
Read moreWhere to start? This was the wife and I's first time going to this casino. We don't go out often, but when we do, we want it to be stress free. I expected that, like most casinos, cigarettes would be smoked. I smoked for 33 years and don't like to be around it. However, this wasn't even the stress factor of this visit. We unfortunately signed up for the rewards cards. I did not gamble as I was there just for the wife. I wanted to sit back and watch her have fun. She did not have fun. We spent at least 30 minutes dealing with the card. The 1st machine we went to the wife tried it, and it didn't work. So we went to a 2nd machine. This machine pulled up her information and showed the $7 of freeplay. It wouldn't let her use it. I flagged a worker down, and he said to go to the rewards center again 😒 . We did so, and they reset the card. We then went to another machine, but this time, it once again wouldn't let her access it. I had another guy call the manager over. After a lot of explaining, he had taken the cards back and brought a new one. It worked. We will possibly give them another chance in the future, but as far as this visit is concerned, I give it 2 stars. Simply for the principle of the fact that we did not enjoy ourselves and it was not stress free. I don't know about everyone else, but when we do go to places like this, it's to unwind. This is the 1st casino that we've been to that we only spent $60 and walked out because of...
