This is a fantastic place to learn and teach, as well as enjoy nature. There are paved and unpaved trails, giving the option to take things at your own pace or experience level. There are steep, dirt paths, that have treelimbs or large rocks as stairs. There are multiple bridges to pass by. At different intervals and depending on the trail type, there are even benches to stop, relax and enjoy your surroundings. I take my children, ages 9, 7, and 18m and they all find things to love as we venture through. The footpaths are made of varying materials but if you choose a paved path, there are always options to continue on that path type. Two things to consider: The place is large so one can become lost or disoriented but if you go into their Information Center, there is so much information to learn about the place and the nature therein. This brings is to the second point. Their education/information Center. There are live animals and educational activities for the children to interact with. Read moreI recently visited the Ernie Miller Park & Nature Center in Olathe, KS, and I have to say it was a truly wonderful experience. The park is beautiful, with well-maintained trails and a variety of plant and animal life.
The nature center itself is filled with interesting exhibits and interactive displays that teach visitors about the local environment and the animals that call it home. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and they were more than happy to answer any questions I had.
One of the highlights of my visit was the live animal exhibits, where I was able to see a variety of creatures up close and learn about their habitats and behavior. I also enjoyed the educational programs and events that the nature center offers, which are a great way to learn more about the natural world.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Ernie Miller Park & Nature Center to anyone looking for a fun and educational outdoor experience. It's a great place to explore, learn, and connect...
Read moreIts a fun trail... some paved... I prefer the non paved nature trails... They got this wierd concrete alter in the middle of nowhere! Like a sacrificing virgin thing... Just turn left at the entrance and park don't go to the nature center unless you want to...... They have some secret geo-caches if you are into that... Theres a cool canyon area that is really nice. They usually put the owls out.. don't poke them.. You wonder if they are real? claw your eyes out real! But they are untethered.. Its a fun outing. The community center? Yeah... it's cool and all.. The school buses and it gets crowded when you just want to be 1 with nature. I usually go for a run through the park if I can escape crossing K7 highway and not get hit by a greyhound bus!!! If you go REALLY early in the morning, it's not so bad... They did put in crossing lights... If you drive, make sure your license place is up to date. The "parks and recs" po-po can...
