Black Hall Outfitters - Old Lyme — Attraction in Old Lyme

PLEASE DO NOT ORDER FROM BLACK HALL OUTFITTERS!!! I ordered an Old Town Sportsman AP 120 toward the end of August. The employee seemed very helpful in letting me know they received the order and when the kayak would be shipped. It was going to take 1-4 weeks but the shipping process would start within two days. The shipping company seemed to be part of Black Hall Outfitters. I had no updates or direct communication with them besides emails besides general time frame when to expect delivery. I didn’t think Black Hall Outfitters used a third party delivery service, I’m thinking it’s them the whole time. The date for delivery kept changing, I was now expecting delivery in Oct. I called Black Hall Outfitters and they contacted the shipping company. First time I realized that it was a third party company. Black Hall Outfitters were told magically that the kayak was now going to be delivered the next day. I was told by the shipping company via email that once the day for delivery was confirmed I would get a 4 hour time frame for that day. I would also get a call 30 mins before delivery to let me know when to expect the delivery. On Saturday Sept 24th, the time frame for delivery was 10am - 2 pm. I never received a phone call and they never showed up. I called Black Hall Outfitters.and sent messages to both the shipping company and Black Hall Outfitters. I got no response until Monday via email from Black Hall Outfitters. The shipping company has never returned my emails. I was told the kayak was left in my yard. I never received the kayak and there was nothing in my yard, I was home the entire day. No one seems to have any answers. They supposedly left on the kayak by the curb and never notified me. I’m not sure what’s worse, not delivering the kayak or leaving $4000 on the curb, they could have at least call me or walk 5 feet to knock on my door. I’ve ordered smaller items from Bass Pro Shop that require signatures. I can’t file a police report because they don’t have the serial numbers for the kayaks they sell. For something that expensive, there should be protocols and security measures to prevent this from happening. All of this could have been prevented if I would have been contacted. Black Hall Outfitters is no longer responding, the shipping company has never responded and I’m out $4,261.97! No one cares or is trying to...

Do not buy from this company. They do not take responsibility for their actions. On the day of delivery, my delivery notification was changed to "Held at the facility due to customer request". No contact was ever made between myself or the post office for this request. Attached is the photo of what was in the box when my son opened up the package. No quality control or inspection was done before they shipped it. They are on Walmart's marketplace too so be careful.

I'm not allowed to reply to their comment but I"ll do it here. The photo depicts the actual package that was sent to me. It is NOT the buyer's responsibility on what has been ordered. I filed a complaint already because obviously, this was what i have received NOT what the website description was which was supposed to be an actual VS100. NOT WHAT THE DESCRIPTION said. I took my daughters paddle boarding here over the summer. We have all paddle boarded before in the ocean and loved it. Unfortunately there wasn’t much about this experience to love. The tide was low, extremely low...muddy and not a fun experience at all. My youngest daughter and I had to return to the dock after 5 minutes. The people helping us on the dock suggested we ask for our money back, as it was impossible to move out of the immediate area. When I approached the staff inside, he gave me coupons for our next time, which there won’t be, not here at least. The older two tried to continue on, but got stuck, numerous times in the muck. I would have appreciated if they had just said, the tide is really low you will have a better experience during high tide. When I was asked if I enjoyed the experience, I was honest and said no, it was muddy and a complete waste of money. I wouldn’t recommend this place, there are so many others...
