A toddler was climbing on and around on a metal railing that surrounds one of the storyboards on three sides, that father looked away for a second..and the little boy was through that rail and if dad didn't turn right back around, that boy would have fallen in! There is a VERY strong current at here. A beautiful place, but not a place you should take your eyes off your toddler's and curious kids for a second. The pier is great for a stroll and take a few pictures. Read moreThis is a great place to visit. There is a boardwalk set up as a fishing pier, with informative signage about the fish and wildlife in the area. At the end of the boardwalk is a raised observation deck.
The park itself is well maintained with ample parking, there are benches, picnic tables, and a small pavilion.
The railway drawbridge saw lots of use, both by trains and large boats, while I was there and was fascinating to see.
