Alexana Winery — Attraction in Oregon

My friend and I work in the wine industry so we have fairly high expectations. Our host, Timothy, exceeded them. We had a private tasting with our wives and were impressed with not only our host/server and his knowledge of the winery and wines, we also like the wine quite a lot, buying about a case between the two of us. Timothy provided a very detailed background of the winery and the history of the property. He explained the various soil types that existed on their unique property and how that plays a role in the characteristics of the wine. He did so without sounding like he had memorized a script, because he knew his stuff. He did all this while respecting our industry knowledge by not talking down to us, nor assuming we would know things. He was also very accommodating and didn't mind that we had to step out for a few minutes to take care of other business. Our wedding at Alexana was truly a dream come true! From the moment we first stepped onto the property for a wine tasting, we felt so incredibly at home. Lindsay and the entire Alexana team were just wonderful, both leading up to our big day and throughout the event itself. Every little detail, from the thoughtful amenities in the bridal suite to how smoothly they handled the unexpected rain, made us feel completely cared for. The views overlooking the Dundee Hills are absolutely breathtaking, and having the covered deck meant our guests could enjoy the scenery comfortably, even with the drizzle.The wines are delicious, which elevated the entire experience. Exquisite experience.

Beautiful setting, great architecture, expert and very helpful sommelier, well curated cheese and charcuterie plate all showcased splendid wines.

Our host, Michael, was fantastic. We even enjoyed a lesson on using a Coravin and insights on when he would decant, and what techniques he would use for different varieties and bottle age.

The wines offered a very helpful overview of Alexana's offerings both in terms of different vineyards as well as different vintages. This was so helpful and a big improvement on the classic 'latest vintages only' experience all-too-common at booked winery tastings.

When you go out of your way to visit the winery, and pay the tasting fees, it is important to get a full sense of the wines.
