Exceptionally beautiful biking and walking trail, I originally started at mile marker 17 I believe twice trying to hunt down the big bridge. Well the 3rd time finally figured out I was miles away and actually drove to the parking, picnic area where the bridge is within a 2 min walking distance. There is 1 bathroom and a huge field along with a covered picnic area with grills, also they have something I never knew existed, a bike repair station? Basically a metal station with an air pump, and tools to fix or provide you with your biking needs. I thought it was pretty awesome! The bridge itself is beautiful but scary since it's about 80ft up off the ground, and some of the wooden railings are wobbly but, very well maintained area. Be careful of bikers coming in hot behind you, I just love completely out of the...

This paved trail is super, you can go in either direction and walk, run, bike, eboard etc in either direction. The Trail is in super condition and there are lots of cyclists on the weekend so pay attention to your surroundings while on the trail. You might get lucky and see some wildlife. I saw some Road Cyclists riding way too fast had to be around 30+ mph, I know because I used to ride in Bend. A cyclist, in great shape, can easily hit 30 heading downhill and this group was at least 6 in their group. They went wizzing past my brother and I and thankfully they pulled into Pole Position and single file then spread out when they passed us. Have fun out there and enjoy your time, lots of shade for the...

The trail over and under the trestle was awesome. The trestle had great views. The trail beyond the trestle gets a little mundane. It's a great walk, and it's flat, but the scenery never changes and there's no curves or anything to make it interesting. You just walk on a straight, flat path with little scenery change. Yes, I get that this is normal for a railway turned walking trail, and not much can be done about it. The picnic tables are in the meadow below the trestle. They are well placed so as not to be right on top of each other. This is an excellent picnic spot. The bird watching from the trestle seems to be really...

Free parking in a gravel lot. Picnic tables and benches available. There is a covered picnic area that has electricity. Don't know if power is on. Easy walk to the trestle. Two pit restrooms. Only one open in winter. Garbage can. Mowed area. Ramp for getting a rider from a wheelchair to horseback. Paved path from a paved parking space to the restrooms has been added. No water. Trail is paved but there can be mud between the lot and the trail. Watch for fallen trees on trail. Also watch for park employee going too fast in cart. The volunteers we've seen in carts drive at safe speeds.

The trail from banks to Vernonia is this portion. It used the railroad bridge and transformed into a beautiful Woodbridge keeping the trail from going down and through town to continue back up and go farther north. But they have a nice little park there and you can go either way both or South and get a 1.6 mile hike with just a short piece that takes a little effort to go up a steep up hill. The seroundings are very pretty and it's so we'll built you can enjoy just the bridge also.

The Buxton trailhead gives easy access to the Banks-Vernonia trail near the trestle bridge. There is a large open picnic area, a covered picnic area, and ample parking for both cars and trailers. Follow the paved path to the Banks-Vernonia trail. Turn left to go over the trestle bridge and a gentle, downhill ride. Turn right to cross the street and follow several miles of gentle uphill slope toward Stub Stewart State Park.
