This is a great area to explore. It’s quite muddy right now and needs more trail cleanup to occur in the coming weeks. You’ll find a roaring river and a network of trails through various moss laden forests. It’s only open to horses and bikes after May 15th due to the rainy season. The bridges and signage could use an update. Being so close to Portland, it seems to be heavily used near the road which would benefit from some litter removal. Leftovers from late night redneckery and unsanctioned parking lot fires seem common here. I’ll have to go back later to explore more trails or plan a canoe trip. The trail is open to horses and bikes.
The parking lot is large enough to unload a large horse trailer.
We talked with some horse rider who said the trail is great for rides. My daughter-in-law said it her favorite place to ride.
