I decided to MTB the trail around the lake counter clockwise based on a review that I read. I started at Eagle Point boat landing. While this trail is an awesomely maintained hiking path, it is a challenge on a bicycle. I consider myself to be an above average rider based on experience but limited by not being in peak shape. Once trails reach a 15% grade uphill with roots and rocks I will disembark. There was only one small downhill that I considered to be unridable due to the combination of rocks, roots, and erosion. Overall, this is not a trail for a beginner mountain biker. It would likely cause them to abandon the sport. The water level was very low due to it being early fall. The sun was shining bright and the crowds were lacking on a Monday, hence my choice to return here after the weekend party barges have evacuated. This is a great Washington County park that cost $7/day, a dollar cheaper than a parking space on the Clackamas River Park. Be aware of poison oak. It is currently a dull fuchsia color due to the leaves about to be shed for the winter. Many folks were fishing. I saw a few hikers and one jogger beyond the boating folks. It took me 2.5 hours, about 45 mins longer than I expected. I had to stop and catch my breath no less than six times to complete my 14 mile...

Many people enjoy the Park for many recreational options from relaxing, picnics, games, swimming and much more. For myself, I enjoyed one of the best days of my life, Bank Fishing with one of my best Buddies, my Grandson! We had a day of hooking up two a couple of dozen fish...and landing 15 of them with a combination of Trout, Bass and Panfish. Great way to spend the day. We also cleaned up a bag of trash that other people left behind... my pet peeve - Please clean up after yourselves and take out more than you brought!!! Henry Hagg has clean Restrooms, lots of paved parking, Multiple Picnic tables, Handicapped Access, and Group Areas available...along with some Vendors for Munchies and Rental Equipment. And the Lakestop Grocery is located for prior to entering the Park Grounds with a vast assortment of just about anything you might need from fishing gear, clothing, beverages, deli foods, regular grocery stuff and even Henry Hagg Lake Day Passes or Season Passes... ( it is a fee park for...
Β Β Β Read moreIt's amazing for a county park. An 11 mile trail circles the lake, it's stocked by ODFW mtiplentimes a year with rainbow trout, it has healthy populations of largemouth and smallmouth bass, crappie, bluegill, perch, and crappie. There is a smaller population of native cutthroat trout.
Wildlife in the area include deer, elk, bobcat, black bears, bald eagles, osprey, and great blue heron.
Although watersports and boating are popular activities, the lake has a large no wake zone for those who enjoy paddling.
The facilities have been recently updated to include plumbed restrooms.
The park is open from dawn to dusk and costs $7 for a day pass, $60 for an annual pass, and $40 for an annual is your a senior citizen, veteran, or disabled. No firearms are allowed to be discharged in the park.
The park only gets four stars because of the amount of poison oak that can be found...
