Lange Estate Winery & Vineyards — Attraction in Oregon

Coming into to Lange Winery for my first time I had high hopes of the experience. Others have expressed their like towards the wine and I was excited to formulate my own opinion. Granted, we arrived 20 min before they closed, on a Saturday evening. However, we just wanted to try a flight, experience their venue. The staff that worked with us were rude, almost as if they were annoyed we were even there. We offered just to buy a glass, which apparently they don’t sell. The only way they would let us go through the flight is if we dropped the last wine from the flight off the list. We agreed. We went through the flight fairly quickly, not because we were consuming fast, but being mindful of our palate and not drinking what we didn’t want. When we asked if it was okay to try the last wine on the list, since there was still time, and other customers were still going through their flight, they said it was too late. Understand all this was still transpiring before closing. Honestly I liked the wine and would have been open to purchasing a few bottles or even seeing what the membership options were. However, the experience was so disappointing that we paid for our flight, (which they did at a discount rate since we dropped one off, I was grateful for that) and left. My recommendation is to get there earlier, way earlier if you want to...

My husband and I live in Maryland and since our first wine tasting experience at Lange Estate a few years ago, we make it a point to put Lange on our itinerary when we visit our Oregon family each summer.

This year, in addition to hosting our family’s wine tasting experience, they also assisted our daughter in coordinating a surprise birthday celebration for my brother and I. It was a perfect afternoon beginning with a couple of bottles of their very special sparkling 2015 Mia Mousseux and delicious charcuterie boards. We enjoyed the remainder of the afternoon with their tasting menu – and a few add-on bottles. Our hostess Adrian, was knowledgeable, professional and very attentive. She was an excellent Lange Estate representative!

Lange Estate wines are spectacular! Jesse Lange and his team have done an excellent job of differentiating themselves in the industry. In addition to having amazing wines, their warmth, family atmosphere and customer focus are superior.

An interesting experience during today’s tasting. In February, when this trip was organized, we planned this as our last of three stops for the day because of the “amazing view”. A driver was hired and we are all wine lovers and people respecting the production process. My friend was flagged as someone over-served. We were laughing, having a great day, but definitely not over-served(this was typed in car immediately after leaving). In fact, this put a huge damper on a trip that had been planned and looked forward to by a group of adults looking forward to a weekend away. After Sotor and Patricia Green, where we were welcomed with such amazing hospitality, I can tell you to avoid this wine producer. While it is a beautiful setting, there are too many other places producing with knowledgeable staff and great product. The gentleman serving today seemed to have little knowledge of the area and wine in general. We will not be bringing bottles of Lange back home and will avoid them on store shelves...
