A beautiful setting for many interests. There are several types of dog parks, all fenced areas. A wilderness trail type area for hiking, a large field for running, throwing frisbees and tennis balls. The owners and dogs seemed to be having a great time.
There were at least two baseball or softball fields. For organized team sports events. Two Soccer fields as well, all beautifully maintained.
I was exposed to my first pickleball courts. A wooden paddle, larger than a ping pong paddle is used. A whiffle ball is batted over a tennis type net on a reduced court size. I spoke with a friendly couple that was learning the game. The courts were clean, well surfaced and marked, gated and linked fences about ten feet tall to contain errant returns. There were approximately 8 courts and roofed viewing stands.
Paved asphalt type pathways made easy access for strollers, wheelchairs, scooters, bicycles and pedestrians connecting all areas.
A playground area provided all types of fun challenges for young children, bench seating for guardians is available...not shaded. Adjacent is a building where rest rooms are available. Grass is abundant. A small pond is available and I observed the young boys fishing with negative success. Their banter indicated a 6 pounder was lurking in the water...lol. Not sure how they knew that. An older man arrived and pursued his luck...I left before he had any success. A few benches surrounded the small pond amongst the vegetation and small trees and bushes.
Ample parking is available in at least four parking lots. I saw a few children on bicycles but I didn't feel it was aimed at that usage.
It is a nice little park. There are no cooking...
Read morePlayed pickleball here—people who don’t belong to the “pickleball club” have 4 courts to play on out of 16. We invited several of the club members to play and were turned down by anyone with a club name tag. Guess they don’t like visitors???!! Interesting that this is a private club on public park property—also it’s closed to visitors joining. The out of town folks that we eventually met were great. This was the most unwelcome that we have ever felt in Bend and I’ve been coming since I was little. Bend Parks and Rec needs to examine this exclusionary environment and realize that tourism helped build Bend. We come and spend all kinds of money here frequenting restaurants and local businesses. Recreational opportunities should be open to everyone —especially at a public park and residents should be welcoming. Courts were beautifully maintained. Shade structures and bleachers were only available on the “pickleball club” private end. The private end is available after 2:00 to anyone who wants to play in the...
Read moreWe have always loved this park- it's where my daughter learned to ride her bike and it's also my "go-to" when I want to get quick and easy exercise for the whole family. My daughter can ride/scoot, while I jog with the dog, and then we can even go into the dog park after for the dog to get socialization. But ALSO.... This is the MOST DISABILITY-FRIENDLY park in town! I tore my calf a few years ago, and I was miserable in my boot, having to be immobile for 2 months. It was really affecting my mental health. (It was also spring of 2020....) But then I got a Knee Rover and thought about the track at Pine Nursery. This park SAVED me! My daughter and I came every day- she rode her scooter and I rode mine lol. THANK YOU to whoever planned this park and made the concrete so smooth that Knee Rovers and wheel chairs have no issues. There's no other place in town like it, and it really made me appreciate this park on a whole...
