Whaleshead Viewpoint — Attraction in Oregon

Whaleshead is beautiful. Getting down to the beach though is rough. Signs sat 4 wheel drive recommended in the main beach turn..then theres the view point which also brings you all the way down if you choose but it's incredibly steep towards the bottom. Then remember you'll need to climb back up. If you're in good shape then it's doable..but plan to be like in real good shape. I was happy to stop half way and take in the views. Very pretty trail with awesome waterfalls and beach access. The main trail follows the beach south above the beach on the cliffside with great panoramic view of the whole beach. It's quite long to take that all the way to the beach but it is doable still. Or if you take the beach to the end you can see the switch backs of the trail carved into the hillside. As imagined. Have to go to far right corner of parking lot to get the best view. Tried going down the trails to get a better view but they quickly got steep, with no view, and poison oak along trail. Best visited in morning to get light for photography as very shadowed in afternoon.
