🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 There's a reason I don't rate many locations with five stars, I consider it a rating of excellence high above the median three ⭐⭐⭐. Most of the family gathered here on the afternoon of July 4th to celebrate, barbecue, explore, play, ride and of course, eat! The Mount timpanogos Park has several unique features. It is located along the Provo River Pathway, a well maintained asphalt path with tunnels so you never have to cross the busy highway.
The park offers ample parking, pavilions, barbecue grills for your charcoal, a mediocre dog park, grass made for walking running and playing in addition to taking a nice cool nap. It also has working drinking fountain
More importantly for me Mount Timpanogos Park is a bike riders dream. It contains a beginner and intermediate mountain biking course. Moreover, This is the place to conveniently ride or walk the Provo River Walkway. The walkway has three lanes one for walking, one for bicycles, scooters and skate boarders going up the canyon, and another for riders coming down.
The walkway is incredibly scenic weaving through National Forest parallel to the Provo River. It's a short ride up to Bridal Veil Falls, a beautiful waterfall well worth the walk or ride. Both the Park and the Riverwalk are fully handicap accessible although pushing a wheelchair will be much easier coming down the canyon path then going up.
We had a great time on the 4th. Virtually every picnic area in the canyon we tried was full. Mount Timpanogos Park which is conveniently located at the base of Provo Canyon seems to have been overlooked by many. The park had plenty of parking, open tables, trees, grass and shade. I consider this a safe park for children because the actual Provo River is about 50 yards away mostly fenced with limited but open access. This made it easy to keep track of children and our the...
Read moreOf all the Orem City parks, this one's my favorite. You couldn't ask for a much nicer setting. It's surrounded by spectacular mountains. The only real downside to this park is but it's close to a very well-used Highway that can get a little noisy at times. I commend the park workers for maintaining this park as well as they do. I used to work for the City of Orem as a park worker myself. Those people are working out in the elements day in and day out. Please feel free to thank them for their efforts when you see them. For your information the park time worked at most of the time was Nielsen's Grove but I worked at this one...
Read moreBeautiful spot with some really great fishing! Please be aware-- THERE ARE RATTLESNAKES in the area this year (2022). I saw one the other night at about 11pm by the diversion dam and I had to stop my dog from trying to be curious. Just be aware. Keep your dogs and kids safe. And watch where you are stepping especially around bigger rocks or near brush. This one was full grown (like 4 feet long) and got away when it saw me but it was not too shy about my dog approaching and it coiled into defensive mode. If there's one so visible, there are likely many all over. Just wanted to save people from the panic of seeing one. Don't...
