Orion Oaks off leash dog park is part of the larger Orion Oaks County Park in Orion Township, Oakland County, MI. The dog park has 3 large dog paddocks, 2 small dog paddocks, and a seasonal swimming dock on Lake Sixteen. In order to restore heavily used areas, 1 large dog paddock and 1 small dog paddock are rotated for closure on about a monthly basis to allow for restoration.
All but one large dog paddock have rolling, wooded hills with trails.
There is a large gravel parking lot, and when attendants are there, the modern restroom is open. There are portable potties available at all times. The small pavillion is always open, and in the summer, shade tents are often available in at least one paddock. There are also water hoses available to either get dog water or rinse off a muddy canine.
The dog park is heavily used - especially on weekends. There is a fee, and both daily and annual passes are available.
Daily passes may be purchased at either the automated kiosk at the office or from an attendant, when available.
Annual passes are good at most Oakland County Parks, and they are free to Oakland County seniors with proper ID. Annual pass fees are different prices for Oakland County residents and non-residents, and they may be purchased with proper ID at the office when an attendant is on duty, at the Orion Township recreational building or Treasurer's Office during business hours (both just down Joslyn Road), at Bass Pro Shop in Great Lakes Crossing Mall, or online at Oakland County Parks and Rec. There is a combo pass with the Metro Parks also available for a reduced fee (not available with the free...

Great amenities: This dog park has everything you need to keep your pup happy and healthy. There's plenty of space for them to run around, water stations to keep them hydrated, and waste bags so you can clean up after them.
Well-maintained: The park is always clean and well-maintained, which makes for a pleasant experience for both you and your dog. The staff do a great job of keeping the park tidy and making sure that all of the amenities are in good working order.
Safe environment: Safety is always a top priority when it comes to our furry friends, and this park is no exception. The park is securely fenced in, so you can rest easy knowing that your pup can run around and play without any risk of running off.
Socialization opportunities: Dogs are social creatures, and this park provides plenty of opportunities for your pup to meet and play with other dogs. This is a great way for them to burn off some energy and make new friends.
Fun for humans too: Not only is this park great for dogs, but it's also a fun place for humans to hang out. There are benches and shaded areas where you can relax while your pup plays, and it's a great place to meet other dog owners and make new friends.
Overall, I can't recommend this dog park enough. It's a fantastic place to take your furry friend, and I guarantee that both you and your pup will...
Read moreIt's a great looking park and the dogs and owners are great. But, the staff that operate the parks are very strict to the point where you feel like you're going to get a strip search everytime you arrive. I've been hassled by the staff and security for my rabies vaccinations, my dog licenses, my car sticker, pretty much every time I go. I supplied all that upon paying for my sticker for a year. There should be a better system in place for recognizing who is a patron and a lot of the other people who come agree. Just today I arrived in my other car (didn't have a sticker) took thirty minutes to get there my dogs all excited and I had to turn back around because I was driving a different car. How ridiculous is that? I paid the bill it's the same person and the same dog everyone in the park knows my dog it's not like I was trying to sneak in. So I had to put my dog back in the car he was so sad and drive another thirty minutes back home. There will be times you forget the sticker or your lisence tag and you can be certain you will get "caught" and told to leave. They can be very snooty and rude as well. It's not easy to find this park even with the address in a GPS it won't work so word of mouth is how they get new business and I'm saying to go elsewhere unless you don't mind feeling like you're walking into a police station...
