6.5 months after closing, 3.5 months after our bedroom was torn up and it’s still not done. The floor is still ripped up and covered with cardboard. We have not heard from Craft Warranty in nearly a month. They have yet to provide a plan or timeline on the repairs. We love the neighborhood but this is beyond ridiculous to have the master bedroom torn apart for going on 4 months with no idea when it’ll be finished.
5 months post closing and the work is not even close to done. Our master bedroom has been torn up for 2 months with no timeline on repairs. We can see the outside now and it’s going to be in the 30s tonight. We have ended up doing a significant portion of the repairs ourselves and taking on the cost burden.
3rd update: have now noticed that there is water coming in through the French doors when it rains. And by through I mean, between the glass and the frame. It’s soaking insulation below the door framing, wood flooring and causing mold issues. No resolution has been provided by warranty. Water is also coming under the door framing. It is now 3.5 months after closing and the house has been torn up to have the water issue fixed at an unknown time while further damage continues to occur. Despite paying extra for paint, we had to paint all of the walls and trim in the house as none was finished. We are also sanding/staining the reinstalled railing ourselves.
2nd update: 2 months post closing and the house is still nowhere near complete. We will be spending thousands of dollars to completely paint the interior of the house, trim, replace fixtures that were removed by subcontractors who even took the HVAC filters. The builder’s painter subcontractor says it’s not their responsibility to finish the job apparently as most of the trim has only primer, no paint. Front walkway was broken by a subcontractor a month ago and hasn’t yet been fixed. Might have a completed home by the end of the year.
Update: nearly a month with a broken fridge that isn’t even the fridge on our contract. No updates as to if or when we will have a working fridge. Buyer beware. You’ll be looking at thousands of dollars of repairs to complete your home once you’re in it.
A month after closing and our fridge breaks. No timeline on repairs/no replacement. Still a long list from closing (including unfinished stairs & bathroom tiles) that has yet to be completed. The houses are beautiful but there should not be this...
Read moreWe bought a Craft home mainly due to the fact they have the largest garage apartment. Would I do it again, that is questionable. The attention to detail and what is given is not really comparable to the price point.
The pros The sales experience was very good. Sanya and Jacqueline were amazing to work with.
The construction time was good.
Warranty department has been responsive in a timely manner in most cases.
The cons (and it's a BIG con) Tavistock and Craft homes are well aware of very bad drainage issues in Laureate Park. Some builders remedied the issues by installing French drains. Craft however, continually says the grading 'meets requirements'. So in other words, I have to spend thousands more in addition to the half million already spent, to alleviate a completely soggy foundational area. In addition to this, what little yard we have has died due to saturation so again, more money out the door. In reality, Craft should have offered to install the drains for us as some other Laureate Park builders have done. Mulch just floats away and we have a mini swamp where our gutters pour down. We also asked about this during the pre-construction and were told gutters should be fine (WRONG).
The inside paint is very low quality so expect to repaint shortly after moving in (another cost)
GE appliances were the only offering when we purchased and they are not the best.
Craft and all builders in LP are touted as smart homes but they really aren't. Any smart...
Read moreFirst of all when you get in their office the realtor treat you us like "he has the last piece of the pie" We felt they uncomfortable, is like he was doing a favor to us. Two days later he called us to tell us.. Oh.. He found HOUSE for us .. It is only marketing to get the highest price for they house.
My community even has a Facebook support page for anyone buying a Craft/Century home if that tells you anything. If you are thinking to buy, get first in the Facebook group.
Worst part is they do have some nice looking homes/layouts (in theory) and its hard not to fall for them. Don't let your temptations give in as this is the toxic relationship you definitely want to avoid! it is look nice.. BUT.. we aware every think they can do, they will.. cutting all the corner to look nice but the cheapest way to built, trying to save money with everything you can image to keeping in their pocket.
Craft Homes has possibly the worst quality, attention to detail and customer service of any business. No matter the deal, lot, and/or upgrades they throw at you -
