My husband and I got married recently. Originally, we were looking for a destination wedding in Hawaii, but cost and the logistics of that would have been a nightmare. So, we looked all over Columbus for venue that was right for us, but still within a reasonable budget. We aren’t fancy people and neither of us wanted a super formal wedding. The venues we found in Columbus were nice, but either way too expensive (and we still had to rent linens and chairs), had food and/or drink minimums, or just otherwise didn’t feel right for us. I looked at couple of wineries and breweries in Columbus, but they were just too expensive. Then on trip to show my then finance my hometown, we stopped at Raven’s Glenn Winery in West Lafayette, OH. We ended up doing a wine tasting and we got to talking about wedding venues.. We mentioned looking for wedding venues in Columbus and she suggested having our wedding at Raven’s Glenn. I was a little taken aback. I never expected and winery in my hometown to be so welcoming to a same-sex wedding. I grew up here, it wasn’t the most accepting of the LGBTQ+ folks back then. Of course the question had to be asked if that would be an issue, and she assured me it would definitely not be an issue. We toured the space and fell in love with it. We did end up booking the space and it was the best decision we made. What had been a stop for a bottle of wine, ended with us leaving with 6 bottles of wines, a wedding venue, and feeling of welcome. They were great from start to finish to make sure our day was one that we would love. Our wedding and reception went off without a hitch, even the weather was great for our event. All of our guests were impressed with the location, the food, and the wine. I would highly recommend Raven’s Glenn to anyone that is looking for a wedding venue that is priced right, has great food and wine, and are absolutely lovely folks to work with. I can’t thank them enough for all they did for us to make our...
Read moreWe waited all day after seeing the other local wineries in the area to have a grand finale at Ravens Glen. We made a reservation and they immediately acted like they didn't have us on the list. We were sat right in front of the doors coming out if the kitchen. We sat for almost 15 min without drinks bread or even a simple "I'm sorry". The waitress finally came over and stated she would be back still not taking even a drink order and sent this young kid to the table with baked cold bread sticks with nothing but oil on the table that was stagnant. After about 10 minutes the waitress returned to get our order. The appetizer was rubbery and they brought tarter sauce for calamari. All of our entrees were semi warm and the quality was extremely poor. The prices were outrageous for not only the quality but the quantity. The Italian entree doesn't even have a salad or bread. Scallops were salty and for 20 dollars you get 4 scallops. We would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The entire staff was running around with no organization while a manager stood there scowling at the customers and staff. At the end of the meal the manager came up to out table and proceeded to ask us what was the problem as the look on our face said it all. She stated to my friend "I don't understand why you don't like the scallops because everyone else just loved them. She did take off 9 dollars from her bill hit nothing from the rest of us. We even watched a family leave because they sat for over 20 min and weren't recognized. They claim this place is Ohio's crown jewel of wineries and I can tell you do not waste your money or your time. A sip of wine tasting was 50 cents every other wineries and 1dollar there. I'm glad we didn't buy anything while wine tasting especially after we had such a be experience at dinner. We will not be back and we will recommend to others not to either. Very disappointed in such a beautiful place...
Read moreThe worst restaurant experience I have ever had. Been coming here for 10 years mostly just for the wine and have only eaten here a small handful of times. Wine is always amazing, and we love doing the tastings each time we come. The food and service was awful though. The menu states fresh cut fries, yet they give you frozen fries. The lasagna had been reheated probably from frozen state since the center was cold and the outside was hot and the bowl it was in looked like it came out of the oven and was untouchable with how hot it was. The bread that came with it was rock hard and inedible. Both the burger and salmon were dry and overcooked. The restaurant was empty, and they wouldn't allow us to put a chair on the end of our table for our last guest and used the excuse that there wouldn't be room to maneuver around (plenty of room and the restaurant seriously only had 4 tables with guests). We had made reservations for a birthday party weeks prior and they refused to accommodate requests they promised that they could. Manager checked on numerous tables around us but never bothered to stop and check on ours. Waitress was rude and snarky as well. Like I said worst restaurant experience of my life. Will only ever return for wine and never for food again.
Edit to add for the comment- I never once left the table, so I know for a fact that you never once tried to check on us. I was waiting for it, trust me. I don't need to bother speaking with a "macho" manager that wouldn't have solved a single thing. I didn't need a stupid discount on my bill or any of the sort. We needed to be treated with respect, and you need to serve better (not frozen) fresh food. I can tell many changes have been made recently, and it's certainly not for the best. Good thing the wine will continue to keep this...
