Bucket List Dream Come True â An Unforgettable Experience with Adventurous Antelope Canyon!
Visiting Antelope Canyon has been on my bucket list for years, and I finally had the chance to experience it with my husband, our son, and his girlfriend. It surpassed every expectation I had. I was in awe from the moment we arrived until the final photo was takenâit truly is magical.
The entire operation was seamless and professional. There are plenty of porta-potties onsite (a huge plus!), and a shaded structure that will be a lifesaver during the hotter months. Everything ran exactly on time. We hopped into a very nice, comfortable van for a ~15-minute ride down a dirt road to the canyonâs entrance.
Our guide, Josh, was absolutely amazing. Not only did he share great stories about the canyon, but he also became our personal photographerâtaking stunning photos of individuals, couples, and the group. I had been worried about getting pictures of all of us, but Josh captured everything beautifully.
One of the best parts? The 10:45 AM time slot. The sunlight streamed through the canyon and hit the floor just right, allowing us to get those iconic sunbeam shots. The contrast of the blue sky against the rich red sandstone was simply breathtaking.
The walk to the staircase gave me a bit of cardio (which I didnât mind!), and although I was nervous due to a recent pickleball injury, the steps were very manageable. They arenât steep, and with two sturdy handrails, I felt safe and confident descending back to the parking area.
No purses, backpacks or fanny packs allowed. Only water and your cellphone. Parking lot is close by if you need to return items to car.
A few helpful tips for future travelers:
Be sure to check the correct directions. The link in the confirmation email showed a location over 40 minutes away, which caused me to panic. Instead, scroll to the bottom of AdventurousAntelopeCanyon.com for accurate directions (it's only about 15 minutes from Page).
Buy your tickets online to save around $20.
Tip your guide! Most people in our group didâJosh definitely earned it.
This tour often sells out, so book early.
And finally, watch your phoneâs time! Page sits on the Navajo Nation, where some phones may switch to daylight saving time, even though the tour runs on Arizona time. Several people in our group arrived an hour early due to this.
We saw other tours where people were riding in the back of pickup trucks with bench seatsâdefinitely not our style. I would gladly pay a little extra for the comfort and quality Adventurous Antelope Canyon offers.
This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience with a top-tier tour company. If youâve ever dreamed of visiting Antelope Canyon, do itâand go with these guys. You...
Read moreVisiting Antelope Canyon had been on our bucket list for years, so believe me....we did our research. We chose Adventurous Antelope canyon tours because the vehicles they use to go to the canyon slot are proper air conditioned vans and trust me in Arizona heat and dust this is vitally important... well it certainly was to us. We booked in line well in advance and chose the 11:05am your so we'd be in the canyon for non for the best lighting. It cists a bit more than the other time slots but you know you're only here once and you've vine a long way. Spend the money. About a week before you arrive you complete a pre arrival waiver....it only takes a couple of minutes... get it done... you dint want to miss your tour. You need to get there 30 minutes before your tour time. There's a big car park with lots of space. Check in at the kiosk and relax under the huge shaded wooden structure. You're given a number.. listen out for it when your guide calls. There were 12 people in our van. You drive about 10 minutes on a road then 10 more on a sandy road..a little bumpy but no big deal...mit like monument valley bumpy. When you get to the slot you wait for the group in front of you to go in thenits your turn...prepare to be speechless at the beauty. There was no crowding or crushing. Each group is nicely spaced apart all walking in the same direction. We were in the canyon for 80 minutes which was the perfect amount of time. Our guide was Josh. Very knowledgeable and happy to take photos of us in the key places. When you leave the canyon slot you walk across some open sandy ground then up a metal staircase and along netal ramps (covered) then diwn tge staircase and back to your van. Now heres a really good tip....carry a small folding umbrella that you can put in your pocket so you can create your own shade before you enter the canyon slot and when you come out and walk back to the van. Take water....theres a shop at the base area in case you forgot. This was a tour of the upper canyon. We do the lower canyon in a few days. I hope you found this review helpful. We will post more on our...
Read moreDO NOT take this tour! I took this tour about a week ago and it was easily the worst tour I've ever had in my life. Not because of the site but because of the tour guide. He obviously hated his job and had no qualms about showing this. He never introduced himself but he's the same guy in the picture posted by Manik Gupta below.
The tour guide was rude, argumentative and dismissive. He just tried to rush us through the site and didn't provide any information - even when asked to do so. Instead he said that it was pointless to tell us anything since we were taking pictures, that we paid only to see the site (a lie since we booked a tour and not a shuttle, and and we could hear other tour guides providing interesting information to other tourists). He also told us he was too tired to take pictures of the group since he had been working all day and even when the kids tried to ask him questions he was obnoxious and condescending. To the point that I began to suspect that he didn't know anything and that's why he wouldn't tell us anything about the site.
After his attitude people in the tour gave up trying to ask questions and the mood was heavy, uncomfortable and silent.
If this wasn't enough, the tour guide eventually took off on his own and left the entire group. He said that the trail was obvious and people would find their way on their own. One of the members of the tour was older and had trouble walking and you could feel the anxiety with her trying to keep up as the tour guide rushed and then eventually left us. The kids in the group were also worried that he had left and driven off without us.
I definitely WOULD NOT recommend this tour! There may be better tour guides in the company but you're randomly assigned to a guide and don't have a say. Also, the fact that the company continues to employ this person and does nothing to address the situation even after multiple complaints tells you that they don't really care about their guests and are probably only in it...
