For years I've enjoyed going to the Pahrump Valley Winery and dining at Symphony Restaurant. However, when I visited recently, too many things seemed amiss. For starters, the waiter was grossly inexperienced. He admitted he was only a week old there. When I asked him for some specifics about menu ingredients he hemmed and hawed & made something up. When I caught him in a lie, I asked him to go into the kitchen and ask the chef my questions. I was concerned about food allergies. Moments later, the waiter returned and still did not know anyting. Then, a loud-mouthed lady came out and barked "Is there something wrong here?" Hardly the kind of attitude one would greet customers with in a classy place. Not only that, she spoke so that everyone in the dining room could hear her. And that was very embarrassing to me and my date! Next, the inexperienced waiter served me my appetizers and entree, but only served my date's entree until after I insisted he bring it out! So, as I was finishing, she was only beginning. Has anyone ever taught this guy how to serve customers? Worse yet, my guests food was so overcooked that she did not eat even a third of it. Finally, when I looked at the bill, I noticed I was charged over $5 more for two olives and a small ring of red onions for my salad. That's ridiculous! The food prices are high enough and the quantities are small enough that the restaurant should be able to absorb those small items. When I asked the waiter to adjust the bill out of courtesy, because he had not told me there would be an upcharge, yet again he sent over another loudmouth lady who lectured me on substitutions. She insisted that because I asked for a couple olives and a small ring of red onions, that my side salad would be upgraded to a chef salad. Unbelievable! I had to ask my date to please step into the restroom for a minute while I spoke to the lady. All in all, with the new ownership changes at Symphonies Restaurant, it seems the service and quality have faded dramatically. It was the first time my guest had ever been there, and she told me she never wanted to return! Way to make a great first impression! So, while Symphony's Restaurant used to be a worthwhile excursion from Las Vegas, I really don't recommend it anymore. Even after so many years of my loyal patronage. They blew it! But I'll still give it two "stars" for the atmosphere and the free...

Having never been to a winery i was very much looking forward to visiting one and eating in there restaurant, I really wish we had skipped the restaurant after the tour and just left with the wine we had purchased, This is going to be a mixed review.
We arrived for the tour and was greeted and given sheets to which we could choose to sample 7 wines, This started out very well and was enjoyable, It was so nice to taste some amazing locally produced wines. All of our party decided to buy a couple of bottles of wine. My favorite was the Symphony. After this we did the tour of the winery which was interesting. What we did not know at the time the person serving us the samples of wine Leah would also later go running to a member of the management in the restaurant gossiping about us!
After the Tour we decided to eat in the restaurant, We got a lovely warm welcome from the staff and a table by the window. My friend and I ordered the seafood duo for two to share, The crab cakes tasted lovely. For my main i ordered one of there filet steaks with a side of Asparagus spears and mac n cheese, The steak arrived dry, tough and certainly very bland. The mac n cheese was basic! The only good thing was the Lobster bisque. My friend also had the same issues with her steak. We brought it to the servers attention and she then informs Shelley the manager. Shelley comes over and says to us I heard how you have been complaining and getting free stuff all over Vegas (Leah from the sampling gossiping) That's not happening here. We told her that this was not true. We would have ask if they could remake it but after the way Shelley treated us we just wanted to leave. Our bill in the end was comped!
I would avoid the steaks here and certainly any days Shelley and Leah are working, Its a shame 2 staff could ruin what should have been a amazing experience. Thank you to the other staff in the restaurant for being so nice and agreeing with us that she was...
Read moreBe warned. This place is not suitable for children or families. The woman who only identified herself as "the owner" is beyond rude, condescending, argumentative and disrespectful. Not to mention completely out of touch with reality.
I was with a large party and we had to be split up. I was the only adult at a table with 6 children ranging in age from 1-11. These kids did so good sitting for two hours at a "fancy" restaurant. All of them stayed in their seats, ordered their food respectfully, used appropriate restaurant volume and waited nicely for their meals. Even the 8 year old whose meal was never ordered and who had to wait until the entire party was served before being told that the kitchen staff would now start cooking hers.
My steak was undercooked, my daughter never received the French fries that were supposed to come with the meal and, as I've already mentioned, one meal failed to come until everyone else was done eating!
After all of that, while waiting for the staff to deliver the check, the owner corrected my children, telling them to return to their seats. She then proceeded to tell me that she had six children but that she managed hers. All I asked was that she recognize that the kids did great and, if there was an issue, she should have taken it up with me instead of with the 3 year olds. She accused the kids of running through the restaurant, which none of them had done and then asked me what kind of mother I was!
The rest of the staff was very nice and apologetic for her out of this world rude behavior and comments.
In all, food was mediocre at best and our experience was by far the worst we have ever had at any restaurant. I regret that we went here and I hope anyone reading this thinks twice about giving them...
