After a short twisty climb up a rather steep mountain road you come to the small car park atop Dante’s View. It’s over 5,500 feet in elevation so expect stunning views over Badwater Basin. On first seeing the view, I felt my perspective meter shatter in my head, as my tiny brain attempted to process and comprehend the jaw dropping vista that stretched almost to infinity, on on, over the misty mountains, further and yet further, seemingly unending until the uttermost distant thin line of white cloud finally obscured the vast horizon. Regaining my consciousness I found myself standing dazed and awestruck by the multiplicity of nature, aware that I was in the present moment, alive, here and very much now. A fleeting moment of evanescence, the pulse in my eyes, a distant tingling, as of far off distant bells, calling me home from some as yet undiscovered land, and I was back, just Stevie J enjoying the...

Absolutely one of the best landmarks inside the National Park that provides a stunning view of the Death Valley Basin below. The road to the lookout is not bad at all except for the very last mile to the parking lot. It begins just after you pass the restroom on the left side of the winding road. If you are pulling a trailer, RV or driving an oversized vehicle, I would recommend you park in the restroom parking lot because the last mile is a very winding road to the top. But when you reach the parking lot, you will be witness to a beautiful view of Death Valley. You will also be surprised on how much cooler and windy this lookout is compared to Badwater Basin. The photos are taken in March of 2024, when an extremely rare event occurred due to heavy rains and a lake almost 7 miles long was formed on the desert floor near...

Just GORGEOUS! From Dante's view, you used to be able to see the lowest and highest elevation in CONUS from the same spot. Now with light pollution, it is nigh on impossible.

So fascinating that lush land and barrens, highs and lows, sweltering heat and snow capped peaks exist in the SAME COUNTY!

Be sure to check out the review of Badwater. I take some photos looking UP at Dante's view! I also had been pronouncing Amargosa "Arma-Gosa" incorrectly for YEARS! Always...
