This is a beautiful preserve and my husband and I walk daily. Unfortunately other visitors do not respect the land as there is trash commonly found littered all over the lawn and even on trails. Trash bottles garbage thrown on the ground by pavilions. Wads of tissue toilet paper bottles alcohol bottles thrown in bushes. It is sickening and sad to see the disrespect and causes concern for the health of my puppy walking through and the wildlife who live there. Also saw a group over by the apple trees shaking the trees and knocking down huge amounts of edible apples to let them waste and rot on the ground ( they were not picking them just knocking them down for fun). Other then that it is a pretty place to walk and see wildlife like deer , turtles, geese, owls etc. make sure your dog has a preventative treatment (chews, drops, shampoos etc.) and do a thorough check up after walks especially in wooded areas as there are A LOT OF...
Read moreDeer Grove has paved and single track trails for biking, hiking, cross country and skiing. Theres over 1500 acres of outdoor area to explore. Moreover the whole preserve sits between 12 and 14 with Quentin splitting Deer Grove in half. The single track biking trails are very fun and pretty easy to get through. I wouldn't call them very technical, they are beginner friendly. Theres alot of great spots for pictures alot the trails and plenty of places to stop for a rest or restroom with access to water. Overall I bike here pretty often, and theres alot to be found here. I would recommend this place for anyone looking to be outdoors. Moreover, there's plenty of space to...
Read moreI had wanted to check this forest preserve out for a while. It has A LOT to offer. Sledding hills caught the younger eyes in my party as well as the small waterfall (human-made) under a bridge. Beautiful water bodies and elevatiom changes were a surprise. I spotted a deer crossing in front of the car. I know they are here and spotted some before, but it helps the total natural (nay, neatural) experience. That is just the western portion. The eastern portion looks to boast many gielda, picnic/party pavilions, walking/biking paths and even a radio control aircraft area. Definitely worth...
