2024 update, Castaways Point Park is still my favorite spot in Brevard for a picnic, a rocket launch viewing, a perfect relax & unwind place to commune with nature. An upgraded white sand beach is a lovely addition. Just watched the Delta IV Heavy rocket launch from here with many others choosing the park for viewing. An historical event, the Delta IV's last ever launch, retiring after many decades. Castaways Point Park is my favorite spot on the Indian River. Flora and fauna are ample and photogenic. If lucky, one might spot dolphins or manatees but sand cranes, pelicans and squirrels abound. Several piers here where you can fish, watch birds, boats or kayakers floating by. Picnic tables (some covered) and benches dot the park. A perfect spot to enjoy the Indian River lagoon.
Just across the water from the Atlantic Ocean and Indialantic Beach should you want to visit...

This park offers fantastic views of the Indian River (this salt water river is just over a mile wide here!) and a good number of picnic areas. It is also a favored spot for the locals to engage in shore fishing. The park is very wooded and is a good place to watch the local wildlife. Parking is good around a one-way loop road. The park is located near Castaways Point, for which it is named. Castaways Point Park is owned and managed by the Palm Bay Parks &...
