Nice park. It's inside of the big city park which also has the amphitheater, swim park, fountains, baseball, basketball and tennis, YMCA, plenty of walking paths, skate park, playground etc. Nice to have all that as well. Plenty of bathrooms nearby. Inside the actual dog park there is two canopies with misters and benches under them on separate ends of the park. Each also includes a watering station for dogs, which honestly isn't the best I've seen just consisting of a faucet, but does the job. Also a drinking fountain recently made filtered and with an area to stand up and fill a water bottle, for humans. Only problem for me is that it's a little too brightly lit, with the bright lights coming from above , gives it a basebalfeild feild sort of feel. Personally I think the actual dog Park at Miles and Seeley is much nicer, nicer grass and more small hills dividing up the park a little bit. All in all a great Park though. PS word to the wise : don't leave your boyfriend alone there, awesome place to pick...
Read moreThe first time I visited the dog park was Sunday (May 10th). Sasha is a German Shepherd Dog who is 10 to 11 weeks old and has very little experience with other dogs. I was relieved when I saw only a few dogs in the park. Sasha did okay for the first visit. The next day when returning to the park I saw over 20 dogs. My first thought was, 'take her home ' it'll overwhelm her, but decided we would go in because of the valuable socialization exposure Sasha would gain. The dogs were all over her getting to her but Sasha had a few issues mainly thr barking and the aggressiveness of a few of the dogs. The owners of the dogs, the ones I met , made both Sasha and I feel very comfortable. Sasha has made a number of new friends, as have I. This group is very knowledgeable concerning pets and all share with each other. I'm beginning to feel very comfortable at the park, as well as Sasha. She even ventured out on the grass today. Haha. So thanks everyone for being so welcoming to an old man and his...
Read moreThe dog park at the Palm Desert Civic Center has been a great disappointment for the past year or so. The city doesn't consider dog owners as being a very important part of the park area. We have asked many, many times for the city to turn on the misters in the dog park. Their reply, as typical politicians go, claim the misters create too much water waste. If you have ever attended the Civic Park you will see green, green, grass everywhere you look. They water every inch of the park especially the areas that are rarely used. But deny a little comfort to dog owners. What the city "politicians" don't understand is with the little use of the misters we keep the flies, gnats, etc down and keep the people from having heat stroke. Please wise up!...
