I have lived in Palm desert for a few years now. I use to LOVE this park, it was my number one recommendation for anyone who visited the area. I am utterly shocked how much this park has degraded in care, the maintenance is not happening properly, the landscaping and care of the animals is atrocious. They obviously are not trained properly. They do not canopy the trees and things are in effect dying. The pond goes through stages of degradation, and that’s because they do not know how to manage it, they just pour chemicals and stop the flow, which makes the issue worse. They have wounded ducks, and cut up, dead turtles and even when you bring that to the attention of the workers they have a not my problem, it doesn’t matter attitude. Does anyone actually care about how much this park is dying? Does the employees that hire the landscapers and gardeners take a walk around the park every once and a while to see the hacking of trees and shrubs that have happened?
The ignorance! They don’t even know they have highly toxic plants that they are working with, that literally, if trimmed improperly could cause a heart attack, to themselves or a passing by animal. In effect opening up the civic center to a law suit!
Get qualified people in there that actually care about the earth and animals. People that know their stuff! The people that are taking care of the park currently are not qualified and id go as far as saying the person who hired them is not qualified either because they do not know or ignore the needs of the park, or they do and have lost their desire to actually see this park flourish.
I really hope to see all those workers replaced with ones that love the earth and would handle the park with...
Read moreThe actual park is really nice, my problem is with the dog park and in particular the people who bring their dogs there. We brought our dog there, she is the exact opposite of an aggressive dog. She has been around dogs her whole life. For some reason people bring dogs there who don't belong in a dog park. Our dog was attacked by a bunch of dogs, two of them were actually wearing shock collars. I kid you not, people brought dogs who require shock collars to a dog park, and then couldn't control their pets when they were there. When we returned with a vets bill of $600 one of the owners was actually there with her dogs again and acted like it was no big deal that her dog attacked her and didn't offer to pay one cent. We met some really nice people at the park as well, but unfortunately given the safety of our dog (and us?) is in jeopardy we will not be returning. I guess having your dog attacked by a pack of dogs wearing shock collars who don't belong in a park will...
Read moreBeautiful park. There is so much to explore here. There are 2 ponds usually filled with fish, turtles, and ducks. Beautiful and peaceful way to enjoy an evening out. There are 2 playgrounds, one for older children and another for toddlers. There is walk ways going throughout the park where people enjoy walking, skating, running, bike rides, and more. There are basketball ball courts, tennis courts, baseball fields, volleyball courts, and large grass areas to toss a football or play soccer. Throw a frisbee around. There's also a gated dog park. A skate park. Lots of shaded structures to host parties or gatherings. Many tables throughout the park as well to enjoy meals or a picnic. It's definitely a great place to relax and enjoy a quiet evening. Lights turn off around 10 pm on the playground. Wood chips on the playground floor. There's also a workout station. Many...
