This was an awesome hike. It was on the tougher side because the elevation gain but totally doable. We hike here and there and are not really conditioned for this and we made it no problem. The road to get to the trailhead was another story. If you can get past the huge holes right when you start off the main road your good from there on. If not you have to park and add another mile each way to your day. We had to do this and that last mile was the worse part. If you have 4x4 with some good ground clearance you should make it. There were only a handful of people when we went on a Saturday with perfect weather. Normally we hike devils slide but I think this may be our new to go hike simply because of the lack of people. Try it out and I bet you will love it. Don't forget your water and lunch to enjoy at the top.

Great adventure at Tahquitz Peak, 08.16.25. The ranger was checking permits and informed us that the tower was closed. The trail is well maintained, steep up to the peak, with beautiful tall trees and rocks. The saddle junction is perfect for resting or snacking; met lots of nice hikers and a friendly dog named Jarvis. The peak had no shade and was not crowded. The views from the tower are stunning!

Great hike! We logged 9.2 miles round trip account of the road closure. Overall, just a great trail. Last bit to the top is STEEP! You're quads will be burning. Lol. Started at 615am on a Saturday. Didn't see any other hikers until we started down. Beautiful weather. Tower was closed for season but still had access to deck around perimeter of Tower. Great hike!

This is an incredibly beautiful hike. The view from the lookout is spectacular (on a clear day). Make sure to pack appropriately for this hike, though, as it is quite strenuous. Plenty of water and carbs are needed. I also highly recommend the appropriate footwear. Also, there is a stretch of trail that can be daunting for those who suffer vertigo or have a fear of heights as it traverses a canyon with a fairly sheer drop off and no guard rails. But the reward is well...
