I recently worked with Trip at Trip's Vintage Art & Custom Frames for a complex restoration and framing project, and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience and results.
I initially visited Trip's shop to discuss restoring a single antique frame, including touch-up and color matching for the patina gold gilt on gesso, corner separation repairs, and UV-resistant anti-glare glass replacement. I also needed the mounting orientation and hardware updated for an 1885 British watercolor I had purchased but not yet received. At the time, I wrote the requested work in his log book and provided dimensions based on the auction house's printed specifications.
What impressed me most was Trip's exceptional communication and attention to detail. When my artwork finally arrived weeks later, he proactively reached out to confirm the measurements before beginning work. This was fortunate because the dimensions I had initially provided from the auction house turned out to be incorrect, and he was able to adjust everything perfectly.
Trip's honesty and expertise really stood out. When I requested a specific gilt-edged beveled matting technique, he was upfront that his equipment couldn't achieve that exact method, but he suggested an alternative double-matting approach that would create the same visual effect. The solution he provided was perfect – the light green matting with gold accents beautifully complements the 1885 watercolor's subject matter and maintains the period-appropriate aesthetic I was looking for. He was also able to add a stencil border as a light accent to the matting, which was a lovely period-correct touch that enhanced the overall presentation.
His prices were very reasonable for the quality of work provided, and his flexibility with the measurement changes was greatly appreciated. The final results are absolutely fantastic – the frame looks beautifully restored and the custom matting perfectly showcases the artwork.
I highly recommend Trip for anyone needing quality frame restoration or custom framing work. His combination of skilled craftsmanship, fair pricing, excellent communication, and customer service makes him a true professional...

Read moreI called Trip to inquire about Framing a special project, and he was very helpful and understanding to my request. I met him at his beautiful frame shop, which is so much more than a frame shop. It's more like a museum with so many artifacts, antiques, original artwork, and local reclaimed wood that he uses for some of his custom frame orders. We went over what options were available for framing my special piece and discussed price, which I found to be very reasonable considering the quality of craftsmanship in his shop. I look forward to picking up my special project, and I am so glad that I found this place!...
