I am very lucky to live within walking distance of this park. For over thirty years my family has come to this park and I’ve seen it evolve as the years pass. They are always updating the park, adding new and family oriented attractions and activities. It’s a great place to bring your pets too! My ONLY COMPLAINT? The limited hours for the dog park! Even on the PARK’s own WEBSITE, IT CLEARLY STATES the park IS OPEN FROM 6:30am-8:30pm!!! THAT SAID, tonight when we brought our Belgium Shepherd to the park’s dog run, flashlight in hand, because there is literally no lighting to be had by the dog run, we were rudely told by a security guard that the park is closed! At 6:00 pm?? That is NOT what it says on the park’s website! If the hours of operation are different, I’d suggest POSTING ACCURATE HOURS OF OPERATION SO PEOPLE ARE NOT MISLED!!
Since according to the security guard the park now closes at sunset, I’d really appreciate it, as would many other dog owners I know who work long hours and can’t possibly get to the park before sunset in fall and winter, if the park would reconsider its closing time for the DOG RUN, and make it 9:00 pm, AND PROVIDE US WITH LIGHTING! I can’t possibly get there before sunset this time of year!'I know it’s a lot to ask but, my my poor dog needs to run at least once a day as she is a very active dog - I leave for work at 6:00 am so can’t being her in the morning!! I hope someone from the park reads this and can help us out with this🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🤞🏻🌞🌞🌞✨OTHERWISE, the park is...

Read moreBesides that Van Saun Park has so many different things to do for people of all ages, it has always been my "zen" place. Yes, I've been to the kiddie section many times with my nephews & niece; played on the swings, slides, many educational, hand-eye coordination based "rides", the carousel, even the train ride in the zoo & always have fun when there. However, there are sections where people can barbeque & have occasions there & also has a section where people can go horseback riding too! There's a tennis court, a baseball field...just so much there to do. But, like I stated in the beginning, my favorite section is the section where the walking path is around the lake. I frequent there to write, draw, read, walk around the lake for some exercise, place my beach chair on the grass & take the sun & listen to music, or just sit there & enjoy nature surrounding me. I do some of my best thinking there most of the time because I've been going there for years & it has just become my "zen" place. Now, as much as I love it, there is one down side (at least it is for me anyway), the ducks can be quite annoying by coming up to you constantly & they poop all over the place...the walking path, the grass, etc... So, that's the only down side I can think of. Otherwise, go by yourself, with your significant other, or your family, & you'll definitely have a fun or relaxing time; whatever you...
