i went to the dark horizon show on august 1.

the free parking (with ample spots!) was absolutely insane. i wish every venue had that going on. entry was quick, staff was friendly, and everything was clearly labeled so it was quick to find where to go.

that being said, the venue was an absolute nightmare for disabled people. your options are to either be sequestered to the very, very back row with the worst view in the house, or deal with an absurd amount of stairs. i opted for the stairs. i was in general admission on the floor. there were literally no bathrooms and no places to get water on the ground floor, so i had to hike all the way back up and down the stairs if i needed to pee or get something to drink. this is so unacceptable for people with mobility issues. there needs to be bathrooms downstairs, and there needs to be a closer seating option for disabled people. disabled people deserve to see bands they love up close too.

even for able-bodied people, the lack of access to water was not okay. at every venue i go to, security passes out water to the people at the barricade because those people cannot leave their spot without sacrificing a place they waited hours on end for. it's generally people who paid extra for vip. hartman did not hand out water. several people had to leave early because they were getting faint from dehydration. it's a safety concern that needs to be addressed immediately.

the show itself was great though.

edit: in response to hartman's reply: i asked the staff if there was any way up besides the stairs and was told...

Horrendous parking situation. Traffic was backed up onto the interstate exit ramp, trying to get into Hartman Arena. There was no one directing traffic, no signs, and all traffic was being directed to one parking area. After waiting 15 minutes, apparently another parking area was opened up. The parking lot was understaffed and should have been ready for event attendees much earlier. The event was delayed over 30 minutes waiting for late arrivals. Seating on the floor is extremely tight. Plan on sitting thigh to thigh with the strangers next to you. The line to get drinks on the floor had at least 60 people in it. Exiting the parking lot after the show was a nightmare. Lighting is poor, there are no lanes to follow, there are no signs, there is no one directing traffic. Cars were headed in every direction trying to get out. It looked like a giant bumper car ride at the state fair. We followed the suggested exit from the Hartman website and it took us over 50 minutes to get out of the parking lot to a road. And that was on a narrow, dusty gravel road. We have recently attended events at the Orpheum, Intrust Arena, Century II and Arrowhead. All of them had parking that was easier and more organized than Hartman. We got out of the Eras Tour at Arrowhead (two nights in a row) along with 70,000 other people in less than half the time it took us to get out of Hartman. We loved the Nate Bargatze Z show, but I would drive to Kansas City or Oklahoma City to see him next time. We will never return to Hartman until some serious...

Great show and concessions were easy to navigate. Restrooms were clean and the show we saw had great lighting and presentation. The only issue I had was the uncomfortability of the seats. If you are taller than 6'2" then your legs will be cramped to the front and there isn't much space to the sides. Also, parking is a nightmare at the end of the night. They have three entrances/exits and it was easy getting in because they had parking attendants who guide you to an exact parking stall, however they didn't have them after the show, so it was a free for all to the exits. People just had to be patient and understanding, but that didn't happen much. It would be better service, in my opinion, for the venue to guide people out by section and have people out there doing it, to limit confusion and congestion. Just my opinion, but I think it would make a huge difference. I wouldn't even mind paying a few bucks for parking, if it meant not having to do that again and having more organization. Also, if there was an emergency, I have no clue how someone could get in or out because of the disorganization of that parking lot at nights end. I hope the criticism I gave was somewhat constructive. Overall, we had a great time and mostly great experience. Would go again and keep up the good work Hartman Arena! Thanks for the...
