If you are looking to buy a camper or have a camper repaired, I would caution you if you decide to use Blue Compass RV Park City. We purchased our travel trailer there new in October of 2022 when it was Harper Camperland. After the sale support was and has been a nightmare, they set the weight distribution hitch up incorrectly so that led to issues on the way home that I had to fix after paying for the install. They did not prepare the unit properly before installing the âExterior Shield protectionâ that led to locking in black streaks that would not wash off the siding. This required us to take the camper back to have it corrected.
April of this year I had to take it back for some warranty work due to the siding being loose and bulging out when traveling down the road. They called me and said during the installation of the new siding they damaged it and said it would be around 7-8 weeks before the new metal siding would arrive. I understand mistakes happen and asked if we could pick up the camper and bring it back once the metal arrives due to us having a pre-planned camping trip, they said that would be fine. When I got to the dealership to pick up the camper, I found none of the seams to be sealed properly, red rag fibers in the sealer where they did apply some then smeared it. I also found damage to the camper that it did not previously have and that it was not originally supposed to be replaced. I told them there were several spots missing the sealer so they sent out a technician, he apologized and when I asked about the tin being damaged, he claimed warranty wouldnât pay enough time, so he had to force the pieces into place. I talked to the service manager, and he said he would take care of it and order all the metal panels and fix it right.
I took the camper back to Blue Compass last month in September, they replaced the metal and called October 11 and said this camper was ready to go. I went to pick up the camper on Saturday October 12. When I arrived, I looked over the camper, I found silicone smeared all over where they did the work, and I found the marker light they had to remove to do the repair barely hanging on. I asked about the marker light, and they sent out a technician. He worked on the light and installed a missing foam seal and a few screws that were missing. After he completed the repair in the parking lot I took the camper home. On the way home I noticed something on the roof flapping in the wind. Once home I looked it over and found the sealer, they installed during the final repair to be loose and barely hanging on. This was due to them not cleaning off the old silicone or prepping the surface before applying new silicone. The sealer they used didnât seem to be the correct sealer for the roof it requires. If I hadnât noticed this before it could have turned into a very costly repair bill due to water damage. I reached Blue Compass, and the service manager was gone. He called me later in the week and offered to send someone out to my house to seal it off and mentioned it was a super simple repair. When I stated, if itâs a super simple repair why wasnât it done the first time. He couldnât answer my question and asked again if I wanted him to send a guy out to seal it off. I told him I no longer trusted them working on the camper and I would fix it myself.
I understand things happen, but I have had continuous problems with Blue Compass, and they seem to just brush it off and act like this is normal business. For them to be a Jayco dealer selling new campers, charging as much as they do on their shop labor rate and being a qualified Jayco dealer to perform warranty work, I would think they would be more professional and perform better quality service work. Attached are photos of the repairs over the...
Read moreAVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST. This review is long. Stay with it and keep in mind that my wife and I were extremely patient with the whole process and was ready for this new part of our life. After months of shopping around I went to Blue Compass to see if they had anything that met our needs. After an hour of looking we didn't find anything but they had an advertisement board for new models. We got information on a new model and they said they could have it in six weeks. I found the exact same model for 11,000 dollars cheaper in Indiana. We didn't want to go to Indiana so we haggled the price down and ened up with a sale point 3,000 more than the one in Indiana. We also got 1,000 in store credit to get the things we would need for the camper. We were comfortable with this arrangement. They took our deposit. Two days later we had fraudulent charges on our card and had to have it replaced. Could be a coincidence but after taking our deposit the salesman completed stopped corresponding. They had the money and the order. Wouldn't respond to emails or return calls. 6 weeks came and went and I finally got someone to hand me over to the manager and he said it should be any day. OVER THREE MONTHS LATER we get told it arrived. We had to cancel two summer trips and change our entire summer plans. They didn't even act like they cared. The finance guy got upset because I wouldn't buy his 5 year, 4000 dollar warranty. Kept telling me that things will definitely break within five years. "These appliances never last a full five years." Wanted me to buy a 2000 dollar protective coat that is literally sprayed on and wiped off. I told him I didn't want any of it and had my own financing. He said they couldn't sell it to me at that price if I don't finance with them. I told him it's already done. So he stopped communicating with us. He said we have to come on a certain day and a certain time and then nobody that we went out of our way to meet was there. The salesman wasn't a part of it. The finance guy wasn't available even though it was his requirement to be there at a certain day and time. The 1000 dollar store credit for needed items was picked out prior to my arrival. THATS NOT HOW STORE CREDIT WORKS. THEY CHARGED ME FOR A BLUE COMPASS TIRE COVER AND BLUE COMPASS LICENSE PLATE FRAME!!!! They charged me for stuff that is supposed to come with it like a shower head and a BATTERY. They charged me for the pin than locks the hitch. I wasn't thanked for my business. I wasn't thanked for my patience and understanding or offered any reasons for the delay. There was sawdust inside the camper, the heating pad for the black water tank came unglued on the way home and ripped off. One drawer in the kitchen doesn't stay shut in transit, either the slide is broken or the magnet is missing. I can only imagine the amount of problems I will have to fix. They have been an absolute nightmare. Zero customer service. ZERO. Go somewhere else. Go ANYWHERE. Everyone kept telling me to cancel the order and get my deposit back. My mother is buying a camper, my daughter is buying a camper and my boss is buying a camper and all three have vowed to stay clear away from this dumpster fire of a company. They simply do not care about you. I still can't believe they charged me on my store credit for their stupid tire cover and license plate frame. I guess they didn't think I would ask for an itemized list of the crap I involuntarily purchased. They are so horrible it's not even worth demanding a refund for they garbage they shoved in my camper. They lost at least three potential customers and hopefully more with my newly...
Read moreWe had been in the market for a new camper for my father, and he had gone out there on his own and worked with Valarie (I believe) he took me out there to show me the camper he was considering on a saturday and no one was around, we took it upon ourselves to walk out to it clear across the lot, where we encountered Valarie helping someone else. No big deal. Someone did come out and give us a ride back which was nice. We left to continue our research, and about a week later, according to their website they had 2 of the same model at the park city location one a 23, the other a 24, we went out this last saturday intending to pick one or the other, but upon arrival, we couldn't find the 23, looking at the 24 it already had missing screws on the rain gutter above the door, and little this and thats like that we had noticed, one fender had a emblem, the other didn't, etc. Sales manager Nick (I believe) joined us upon arrival back to the office to find it and advised it was actually in great bend. No worries, we'll go out and look at it. He says he can have it to park city in a couple of hours, and after confirming it will be at no cost to us, we agree, and he leaves the office presumably to arrange to have it brought down. We had already made it clear, we were paying cash, not financing. I step out front, for a second, and upon my return there is a new guy in the office (supposedly general manager, I don't think I ever caught his name) trying to convince my father to finance. I again explain, we have no intention of financing, I asked if they had made arrangements to have the 23 brought down so we could pick which one and he said something to the effect we need to get numbers worked out first, and the the never ending circle talk began. "We really need you to finance" Um no, we'll pay the full amount upon delivery, again, once we pick one or the other, we have no interest talking numbers on a motorhome we haven't seen in person. Then, he attempted to gaslight us, I don't know why your so angry.... Well we've repeatedly told you we were not going to finance, yet here you are constantly pushing trying to get us to finance a camper we had yet to even see. Rinse and repeat. They offered to pay the interest, if we financed, etc etc etc. We had neither picked a camper or negotiated a price at this point. Unfortunately this system has made financing so ludicrous for the dealers that if you want to pay cash or the full amount up front, they up the price of the camper. Not just at blue compass either. Anyhow they value the financing over making a sale. The general manager blew it for the poor sales lady. We walked. Don't think for a second that they are going to be honest with you. They apparently don't update their website either, since they advertise campers on the lot, that are actually not on the lot. I had to pull it up on my phone to show them they had the 23 advertised as being at that lot. Utilize them at your own risk. Quality of and demand for campers is crashing since the pandemic boom. Be wary of...
