BLM Bullfrog Day Use Area — Attraction in Parker

The beach is very wide and the sand is nice but once you get in the water it's straight Muk and the deepest I think it gets is about 3 ft, we take our little here so she can run around because she's super short so she's not intimidated by the water. There is a $5 fee to be there even if you're only there for a few hours but it does have shade spots to sit and plenty of picnic tables to enjoy lunch. This a great facility for a picnic and getting into the water to swim along the Parker Strip on the California side of the Colorado River. I have used the spot for decades... to enjoy day trips to the “River”. It has a beach for easy access, picnic tables, and a larger toilet building to allow privacy changing and indoor use. The trees along the shore provide shade in the afternoon making it easier to make use of long hot summer days. You can pickup supplies in Parker and be here with just a short scenic...

IMO the only reason this location is paid is to provide a job opportunity to a park attendant.

The water access shore line area is approx. 75 yards in length. You can wade into waste deep water until you run into the invasive weed species that is thick and runs the entirety of the access area. Factor in the volume of river activity during your visit because boats and jet skis have no boundary limitations to speed through the area.
