I can't really judge anything except the view of all from outside it. It's closed this time of year (Fall/Winter). But its a great photo opp location. Their is lots of info to read outside the train carts all year long. You can step up on them, walk along the tracks, sit down on platforms, look inside from doors and windows also. If you're near, don't skip it just because you can't go in them in the colder months. Still worth the stop and a cozy location and pretty surroundings. There's a farmers market right beside it too and along little town looking streets with decor and music playing aloud in street speakers during Christmas. I like it a lot actually. I'll go see it again when I can go in as well, but not many people are there in fall and winter time. Makes for a private experience and walk. Nice family or date location to walk, talk, and...

I live right down the street from this place. I will occasionally bring my son when we're bored. They only have early morning hours on the weekend so make sure to familiarize yourself with them. With that out of the way, what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in presentation. They have an amazing scale model of the old railroad system complete with toy electric trains that run the tracks. A lot of TLC went into this setup. This is definitely one of the nicer free museums on the shore and even more so you have a little one who happens to be into trains. The people who run the museum are always friendly and up to share the wealth of knowledge they have about the Eastern Shore's Railway system.

This is well...

On the two trips cruising around ESVA between Chincoteague and Cape Charles, I have brought the family here to walk around. I have not yet had the opportunity to visit the indoor portion of the museum because the hours are limited. It would be cool to have a couple of locomotives onsite if ever possible. If the visitors could grow in numbers there could even be train rides similar to Strasburg Railroad- my dream for this place. Keep up the good work the good...

I visited in the off season so I only got to explore the outdoor portion of this site, but I enjoyed what I saw. The rail cars and railroad buildings were lovingly preserved and the trail to view them was quite accessible. There were numerous interpretive signs and the mix of railroads discussed was interesting. I definitely recommend visiting and hope to go back when the museum is open.

Took our boys as a last minute activity. My 4 year old loved the train set inside to play with. My teen enjoyed the war memorabilia on display and the antique lanterns. Convenient location, great parking. Several train cars you can peak in and see. And right next to the farmers market to. We will return with more family.

I had the most wonderful time at this historic place! The guide Ellen, was so informative and you could tell she had a passion and love for the great history of the railroad and VA. We spent literally a couple of hours here and the walked around the lovely town. I completely fell in love with Parksley.
